The specific location is Oyster Pond, which is a completely protected lagoon surrounded by hills. Dawn Beach is across the bay from Captain Oliver's. Free taxi-boat service to and from the beach is provided for hotel guests. The island of St. Martin/St. Maarten has 37 beaches and 12 casinos. Tropical forest canopy riding, jet skiing, wave running, windsurfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, sport fishing, kiteboarding, kayaking, golf, sky diving, and more are available nearby. Hotel amenities include Captain Oliver's Marina with 150 berths, gas and diesel station, shower and toilet facilities, 110 volt and 220 volt electrical outlets, freshwater hook-up, marine equipment, supply center, and convenience store. Captain Oliver's is home to exotic birds, sharks, turtles, and a variety of other creatures. The open-air restaurant overlooks the marina and has French and Creole cuisine. Iguana Bar is built on pilings above the lagoon and extends between the swimming pool and the aquarium. Dinghy Dock Bar and Restaurant, Bounty Restaurant and Bar, and Yacht Club Piano Bar are also on site. An on-site mini-zoo has tropical birds, iguanas, an alligator, and a variety of native marine life. The hotel also provides room service, a dive shop, and babysitting. All rooms have minibars, air-conditioning, satellite TV, safes, and balconies.
