The 'Mother of Shops'!

BLUEBIRD was founded in 1982 and has a lot to offer.Real food (including Sushi on Saturday), lots of drinks (though no alcohol) and friendly multi-lingual staff. BLUEBIRD has a diverse regular crowd including artists, University of Amsterdam students, staff and professors and older couples.
BLUEBIRD has a menu that stretches over the seven seas of the world.

Located at the end of the Damstraat BLUEBIRD also gets plenty of tourists, and seems to have a special relationship with its customers. The shop gets fanmail and care packages, phone calls from the US just to say "hi" - one fellow had so much fun at the BLUEBIRD that he had the logo of the BLUEBIRD tattooed on his leg and sent photos back to the shop.

The space is big, with two levels, a couple of intriguing frescos, a killer squishy suck-you-in-the-afternoon couch, no tv or videos, varied music, backgammon, chess and a dartlane, magazines in many languages and a politically involved management. You often have a opportunity to sign a Green Peace or WWF petition. So if you' re in for a good time, fly by and have a nice day!

Open every day: 9.30 am - 1.00 am
