In the centre of the outgoing centre and close to the Leidseplein, one can find bar-
coffeeshop The Rookies. In this pulsing quarter of popular cinema's, restaurants and
pubs, The Rookies is a tranquil place to have a drink, a chat or more. The owners
designed the furniture by themselves and were inspired by art deco style. The music is
played loud enough to enjoy and soft enough to hear the one you are talking to. It is a
friendly coffeeshop with a relaxed atmosphere and with clean air, where people can feel
at home.
The assortment of drinks is like in most other bars, the other stuff like in most other
coffeeshops. The Rookies has a pooltable and darts, occasionally there are tournaments.
Real highlights are theme-parties, for instance dedicated to the hippie-era.
Visitors are mostly a mix of students, local people and tourists, of all ages.
Outside there is a terrace with a few tables.
