Amsterdam Knowledge Base
Living in the Dam is better than a vacation by one hundred
fold at least. Each day when I wake up, I look forward to going
to work and going about my every day rituals in the city. Almost
constantly I consider myself incredibly lucky to have the opportunity
to spend an extended amount of time here.
I suppose that in a lot of ways, appreciating Amsterdam
is like appreciating a fine smoke. You know from the second that
you experience it that you like it, but an even higher degree
of appreciation comes with time. Time enables you to not only
focus on the main refinements, but to also dwell on the minute
ones as well. I could live in Amsterdam for years and never stop
discovering things. There is no way that you could experience
such a vivid reality during the hustle and bustle a vacation.
Try living here for a year and I am sure you'll agree!
Buckofive,I couldn't agree with you more. Actually we have talked about this at Rookies. January 25th will be one year living in Amsterdam for me. I have to say that every time I go into the city, I get a the same feeling that I got when I vistied for the first time. I can look at the same buildings, canals, streets, people, museums, landmarks over and over and they never get boring to me.There is a vibe that you get here that is unique to Amsterdam and available no where else in the world. Sure there are places that you can buy better weed, get a better deal on sex or drink a better beer. But if you are coming to Amsterdam simply for that reason, you are missing the boat. There is so much more to it than that! There is absolutly no other place in the world I want to be right now and I dread the day I have to get on a plane and go home for good. That will be a very sad day indeed :('Meer
