I stayed in a Botel called The Dutch Cockney in the Summer
of '86 for a couple of nights. I remember the cost was very cheap.
Probably the equivalent of 15 Euro today. They had very small
2-person cabins on board and if you didn't pay a little extra,
you would end up with someone else sharing the room. I had a
lot of gear from my bicycle so I opted to have the cabin to myself.
It was still about half what I was paying for a cheap hotel by
the Vondelpark. The cabin was basically two beds stacked in an
Oooops, forgot to mention something. These Botels seemed to be in the rooming business full time though. They were barges that had their cargo areas converted to small cabins. I dunno anything about actual working ships renting part-time.
