Geezer coming to town

OK now get yer but to the "Names" post, LOL. Welcome!
I've been lurking for a loooooooooooong time... made a few guest posts here and there. So, hello board, and I'll be at De Kuil on the 19th!

VVTL
That's a riot!!! in a not wanting to get into a political rant kinda way!
I couldn't think of a really good nick... it's icelandinc for "nice day for an airstrike"
another thing i just remembered that pisses me of just thinking about it... the minimum buy at Sheeba was 10euro (or was it 12, i dunno), so i ended up with about a gram and a half of their purple haze... the craptacular crapfest of amsterdam weed. Oh well.

VVTL
I wholeheartedly concur

I tried some of that alleged purple haze from sheeba a couple weeks ago...and you're probably being too nice in your review. Not only was it a craptacular crapfest, but a crapalicious, crapdaggery, of crapdom for crapaholics. It reminded me of cheap mexi-shwag brick that had been sitting in the hold of a freighter for several years.

On the kind side...that nyc diesel from dampkring had some of the best flava I sampled this trip.
Nice avatar.

I just gotta ask about your name....

hrmmm. let's see... i don't keep really detailed records

SSH was the most expensive weed at 10 euro/gr
Bubblehash was 19 I think, but it was #3, not #1, which is like 23 or 25
NL was the bottom end, don't know its exact price, but I got it and 2 drinks for 9 euro total at a little shop outside amsterdam where the bartender was also the dealer. =)
grey mist crystal was 15, luckily I had the nice dealer... i think the bag may have been a little heavy.
The rest are a blur, but generally hovered in the 8 euro range. My memory seems to indicate that the sweet tooth might have been more than average.

I spent a week, and budgeted 20 euro a day for smoke, but went slightly over, especially on the days when I bought hash, closer to 30 on those days. I don't pay much attention to the smoke expenditures... they pale in comparison to the RLD outlay... the budget tends to revolve around that. Also, I get so thirsty while smoking that my drink spending may rival what i spend on the gear, especially with what they charge for a thimble full of soda! I could probably save money by buying something like the noon's weekend-pack of 5gr, but i never buy more than one gram, so I can sample the different varieties... that probably drives up what i spend. All that in considered, I probably spend 250-300 a day including hotel (3-star... no kras for this boy)
Good synopsis..

How much did you pay for the good stuff? I noticed you had a good bit. I do trust you enjoyed yourself. Overall, how much did you spend?
highlights:

Super Silver Haze, Greenhouse Centrum: Heard great things, but this wasn't for me. It was waaaay too strong. I may try it again in a smaller quantity, we'll see. I couldn't do much walking, had to sit down and wait it out a little before I regained some sembelance of equilibrium. Waited until later in the trip before I actually smoked it, so this wasn't a case of me not having my amsterdam 'legs' yet.

Blueberry, De Kuil: My first stop upon arrival in Amsterdam is always De Kuil for a gram of blueberry. Reliably good, but not knock-you-on-your-ass strong. Very relaxing in that indica sort of way. Smells wonderful, and de kuil is an excellent forum in which to enjoy it.

NYC Diesel, Dampkring: Wowie wow wow wow. This is my new all time favorite. It was the only one i went back to buy more of during the trip. Absolutley amazing. Very much a head buzz, manages to be both functional and out of this world at the same time. If I was one to grow my own, this would be the one.

Bubblehash, Dampkring: On its own level. Not for the inexperienced smoker. I fired up a joint with some tobacco and some of this hash in my hotel room. Good thing I was in the hotel room... it was all I could do to bumble over to the bed and lay down. I kept my arms and legs inside the vehicle and enjoyed the ride. Don't smoke this one if you have plans/ :)

Purple Haze, Sheeba: Yuck. This was crap. Tasted like crap, and the high was just kinda, well, crappy. I tossed the rest of the gram in the trash.

Those are the highlights. Other strains sampled include:
De Kuil-
(Super?) Kali Mist
Dampkring-
Buddha's Sister
Grey Area-
Yellow Cab
Grey Mist Crystal
Barney's-
Sweet Tooth

Northern Lights (forget the shop, sorry)

All of the above were pleasing, but didn't make the highlight reel. The grey mist crystal was pretty good, but I think I'll roll it with some weed next time for the full effect.

cheers,
VVTL
Ah, hitting the fly! The first thing that I do upon arrival. Next time I am going to take a photo,. I bet that will look strange! LOL
Pax
sometimes only a couple minutes, once about 10-15 minutes, you will be thru customs before your bags get to the baggage hall. make sure you hit the "fly"
Takes longer to get to an agent than for them to take care of their business. Just make sure you get on the right line - "All Other Passports" unless of course you have an EU Passport.
Yeah, they don't seem to be too worried about anything coming IN to Holland, it's coming into the US FROM Holland that gets their panties in a bunch....
I have never (5 trips) done more than show my passport and walk through, 2-3 minutes tops. Of course I am a very trustworthy looking fellow, LOL.
I don't remeber ever being held up for long there.........
I am leaving tomorrow for my first time out of the states. How long does it take to go through customs at Schipol. i will arrive at 8 am friday on KLM
If Schiphol has a customs section I've never seen it. You first come to imigration where you get your passport stamped. "Hello, stamp-stamp, next". My flight from Washington DC always seems to have way more EU passport holders, so I don't think in 4 trips it's ever taken longer than about 2 minutes total. I've always only had carry on luggage so I just head for Schiphol plaza (the non ticketed area). Just before entering the plaza you walk by 2 or 3 burly looking guys. These guys who are giving you the eye must be the customs agents.
it's coming back INTO the states where i always get hassled...specially Detroit...both times i flew through there to the 'dam, i've almost missed my connecting flights due to their suspicion...

anyone else have horror stories about Detroit customs?...

peace...Ooogs
BB is absolutely right on here... the line to get through is where you'll spend most of your time, and actual time at the desk is about 2 minutes max, unless you fit some type of profile. I'm sure if you posted a picture of yourself , the regulars here on the board will be able to tell you if you'll be detained or not!
check the link and tell me if these people fit the profile, picture credit goes to porkchop.

To paraphrase Jeff Foxworthy, "You MIGHT fit the profile..."
In January we had a bit of a wait at Schipol, they x-rayed everyone's bag and had us walk thru the metal detectors again (never had to do that after getting off a plane) plus there were a lot of what seemed to be Arabic families on line at the passport area and we waited in line for about 45 minutes as opposed to the usual 10-15.
Plus we were given a smart card associated with our fingerprints at Newark which we had to use to get back on our departing plane.

This was our 8th trip since 2000 and none of this had ever happened before....
The only time I recall seeing anyone being picked out at Schiphol customs was on one of my trips in 2001 when there was a bit of a backup leaving the baggage pick up area going through the customs doors and suddenly a few plain clothesed customs officers stepped out of the line and singled out some middle eastern looking people in line in front of them.

As for Detroit, I've heard warnings about them from my stepmom who goes through there frequently on KLM/Northwestern flights. I think the only time I was scheduled to go through Detroit from Amsterdam was January 2000 but I had missed my flight and was put on another flight through Philly instead so I made it back safe along with my souvenirs.
In the SF Chrinocle today was a piece on how a California court threw out a conviction for having pot paraphernalia. We'll see how it holds up. BTW, never a problem getting equipment in SF Bay area even under current conditions.
I agree totally. This new headshop legislation is outrageous.
Over the weekend we start to prepare for our trip to A'dam. Our ritual involves going to our favorite "head shop" to buy a small pipe. So we walk in and I look around and see something amiss. I can't place my finger on it until I go to our normal pipe section and see that there is nothing in the store but ashtrays, tobacco pipes and papers. No bongs, no pipes, no one hitters - NO NOTHING! This is of course because of the stunt Ashcroft pulled a few weeks ago.

The city of Boston came in and told the owner he had one week to get rid of everything (he said they were nice - they could have shut him down that day). The poor guy had to sell off everything. Not only is he going to be put out of business but all the glass artisits he used will feel the crunch as well. What harm was this guy doing? He checked every persons id that came in the store, never allowed the words bong, pot, etc and had a nice clean establishment.

I was so pissed. I am 31 years old and can't buy a pipe b/c my goverment had decided for me that it promotes drug use (which of course means I support terrorism as well). I am still riled up about it. With the economy the way it is I cannot beleive they are basically shutting these shops down... so much for Bush's help for small business. Isn't if funny though how the US government has no problem selling cancer sticks (he can still sell those).
What new legislation? Has the US Congress made a new law on this subject? I know the Massachusetts anti-paraphernalia law has been in effect since the early 1980's, although enforcement has been spotty. The Psych-O-Delic Emporium west of Boston operated with impunity for years, and then one day the town police came in and shut the place down, smashing all the glassware pieces one by one into a trashcan for the benefit of the invited press photographers. But is Asscrap's latest purge based on a new law?
To be honest I don't know if it's a law or not but he did something a few weeks back (including shutting down websites) and at least in good old Boston they are making owners get rid of all their stuff. Obviusly i need to find out exactly what is going on but that will be a project for after we return from Mokum:)
You live in an oppressive country. You're moaning about not being able to buy bongs when millions of voters have been disenfranchised for being the wrong colour or being suspected of voting for the opposition. Stop complaining. Move.
Dazzler,
Why should I have to move? Because I am expressing my feelings? Who are you - Sadaam? I have the right to complain when my rights as a citizen are being trampled upon under the disguise of "terrorism".... I love where I live and still have the right to my opinion - and the RIGHT to express it. And yes, before you ask, I work, pay taxes, vote, am a good human, help others AND STILL want to be able to buy merchandise that doesn't harm anyone.. so stick that in your bong and smoke it.
Some recommendations:
1. Thorazine
2. Large quantities Vitamin C
3. Macrobiotic diet
4. Bedrest
You don't see what you're doing do you?

*Watches*

Dazzler, would love to hear more about those disenfranchised for their color or voting patterns.
