Border Crossings

Never been to Benelux before and am curious what to expect when crossing borders from netherlands to belgium by train?

And for that matter.... what to expect when crossing from Ghent, Be to London, england. are borders tighter in england....what to expect when crossing over...also by train

Thanks

Teo
You can expect ze borders to be very tough, very tough. Ve vill take you from ze train, and line you up according to height. Then ve vill ask you for your papers. Please have them available. If you do not have ze proper papers, ve vill line you up and strip search you using our biggest men, if you zee vhat I mean, schweinhunt. If ve find any suspicious packages, ve vill confiscate zem, and ve vill ship you out to ze Stalag. Any more questions, schweinhunt???
FANTASTIC!
In otherwords, nothing will happen.

Und SCHULTZ!!....es is schweinHUND nicht schweinHUNT. Eine schweinehunt is vhen you look for pigs mit shtrange packages.
Too f**king funny!

moe.

You probably won't even notice that you've crossed

Well, there's some sea in the way and tere are occasionally customs men at the posts, but I've never had any trouble. Why? What are you doing? Smuggling arms?

Didn't know carrying prosthetic limbs through to other EU countries was illegal?

Sorry....I'll shut up !!

Someone wrote on this forum that when going to France by train, the Customs inspectors have squirrels on leashes that run along the package shelf above the seats and identify odd-smelling packages.

This sounds crazy enough that I believe it.

On an unrelated border question, what is the border like between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland? It took me until about 1985 to realize that they are 2 different countries, with Northern Ireland being part of the UK.

Is the border like the Berlin Wall, with concrete, barbed wire, minefields?
Or is it like the US-Canadian border, unguarded with turnpike-style toll booth crossings? I've never been to Canada, though.

On a totally unrelated subject, I have finished converting my house into an art museum, specializing in Dutch artists and subjects. The living room contains 8 Van Goghs and 1 Monet, the hallway has some Rembrandts, and the guest room has a Vermeer and some Eschers. Anyone who wants to stay in Atlanta at my house is welcome. You definitely won't get bored. I guarantee to give you 5 hours of landscaping and housepainting per day to keep you busy. I will post some pics of the rooms.

Then for relaxation, there is riding a bicycle 35 miles on the Silver Comet Trail.
Haven't you heard of the arms limitations treaties?

*Gets coat*

Tom: not safe really, even after the ceasefire and peace accord. It's not the barbed wire that will cause you problems, it's the soldiers, police and paramilitaries. It's best to fly.

I am assuming you are talking about reproductions or prints? BTW you live in a beautiful part of the country. The last (thank the gods) corporate job I had was based in Alpharetta, we had meetings at Stone Mountain; lovely.

Ummmm...I think you can blame me for that tongue-in-cheek tale of border crossings. I think I was a bit buzzed when I came up with that one. I remember starting myself on a giggling fit as I was typing it and picturing it at the same time. Maybe I was trying to see if the "poseur" flamers would jump in on that one.

I like that kind of thinking! Poking fun at those Frenchies! They probably DO use squirrels since they are such little people! Hell, I'd like to land my jet on that Champs Street... or maybe buzz that Eyefell place!
