A mushroom trip question?

How is the Philosopher's Stones compared to mexican and hawaiian shrooms? Or for that sake the peyote or salvia if anybody has tried any?
Dedbud just did some, I also am curious. I have, in the distant past, had quite a bit, perhaps too much experience with psychodelics. I am thinking of trying the philosopher's stones but I would "dose up" at a pace that will keep me from thinking "what have I done?" Any suggestions?
Hmm. As you probably know, psychedelics are very, very subjective, but I've done Philosophers' Stones several times now (they're available in London). The first time, I had 3 grams and it seemed to work ok. Very speedy, jaw-clenchy buzz and super-saturated colours, so strong they were almost dazzling. Bit of an emotional come-down but easy to sleep afterwards.

I've increased initial dose each time since then and only once (when I'd taken about 8 grams) did I feel like I was going to throw up and like I'd done too many.

As ever with psychedelics, make sure you're in a secure frame of mind in comfortable surroundings and with people you like and trust.
I've tried the hawaiien and the mexican a couple of times. The hawaiian was much more intense than the mexican. Like those too. Sounds like the P.stone is much more thinking and less visuals. Is that true?
Hmm. Well, the Philosophers' is more like peyote: bright, vivid colours, a gentle visual distortion and, yes, a lot of deep insight. Very different from the 'world-turned-inside-out' feeling you get from the Colombian or Hawaiian.
I second Philospher Stones being a speedy high. I blabbed my ass off (and enjoyed it immensely).
OK, thanks all, I will give them a try. Where is the best place to purchase and at about what cost?
Dobbs, how much did you take? Did your husband (boyfriend? sorry, I forget...)take the same amount? Wondering how much to take for self and wife...
I agree with Dazzler on the way I felt a couple of days ago when I did them at the zoo. They were'nt speedy at all. I got mine from SmartZone in the RLD.

Ah, memories...Through the magic of the Knowledge Base, I just traveled back in time to March 2000 and found a little trip report I wrote about my Philosopher Stone experience....I think we split 2 containers between 4 people (I guess that's a "light dose", and we ate them gradually over an hour or so). Also, I had forgotten about those Japanese shrooms. They really did kick ass (the Pollinator shop is now located on Nieuwe Herengracht), and I highly recommend them. My face was sore the next day from smiling/laughing on those. Anyway, here's my fresh review from 3 yrs ago, sorry not more specific on amounts, etc:
We bought our philosopher Stones at Kokopelli. Ours were almost all "little bits". We were pretty buzzed on wine when we munched them. We just set em out on the bar in front of us at the Hemple Temple (the Hemp Hotel bar)and nibbled away. My husband felt a little queasy and went to the room to lay down for a little while, but ended up feeling better soon, everyone else felt fine (it's all kinda fuzzy so this is a sketchy report). Myself and another member of our party spent a long time blabbing our heads off to everyone in the bar who would listen (apparently at one moment I was into some type of "free association frenzy")--I guess, for me, I would have to compare it to a speed like rapping buzz. We had continued drinking and smoking thruout the experience, so I don't know how it would have affected me w/o other chemical input. Another experience (my fave of the trip) came about after ingesting Liberty Caps at about 5pm one afternoon, while sitting at de Kuil. We got the gigglies, then made it back to the Hemple Temple at about 8pm, where we took some of these AMAZING Japanese shrooms we got from Mila at the Pollinator/Botanic Herbalist shop (Cornelius Trooststraat 37, in de Pijp). Let the Show Begin!!! The bar seemed to elongate, the ceiling lower itself (I was in a submarine of some sort, it seemed), and we laughed ourselves Literally to tears for several hours (while smoking and beering). I need to email Mila and ask for more details on those little things, cause they were GOOD!
Good report Dobbs. The only thing bad I found with those 'stones' were they tasted so nasty. Other than that, my X could eat 4 bowls of those things by herself. They were 11 to 14 gram bowls... She was not your normal person though, so I would not suggest you do this. Maybe half a bowl like Dobbs said.
Stay away from that Salvia, it gives you a feeling like you are numb and your blood pressure goes up quick. It last just a few minutes and leaves you wishing you had never smoked it. LastOphelia said it made her feel like she was inside a tree. Although it is just ground up leaves, there is something funky with them. I would pass in the future.
Peyote, well I never tried it, cause they told me how you do it.
The guy said "You eat it till you throw up, then you start tripping."
I ain't gonna purposely do anything I have to throw up, to get off on. Yuk...
Just some thoughts,
Best Regards.
I can chime in on this topic as my flatmate works in a smart shop so we have some leisure to "experiment" with psychedellics. Personally, I find the trip from Philosopher's Stones very mental, a thinking abstract trip that reminds me more of LSD than other shrooms. Honestly, I find the taste of the stones somewhat akin to old walnuts, and that makes them the least objectionable of the shroom varieties. In comparison to mexicans, I think that the mexicans are much happier and I tend to revert to the things that amused me as a child; very "special effects" in movies, silly dancing, fart jokes, and a lot of giggling. I guess it is more of a body high than the stones. The Hawaiian Copelindia tend to be much more "magic" with lots of colors and visual hallucinations. Just the sort of thing that you would eat with you buddy and say "yeah man, I see it too!"

The salvia on the other hand is quite different and I find that almost everyone has a different type of trip. Basically, salvia divinorum is an extract from white sage, an herb sacred to many Native American tribes. There are two strengths of extract readily available, x5 and x10. I smoked the x10 with two of my friend and we all had very different trips. One went into hysterics and was paralyzed laughing for about 6 minutes. Imagine the laughing hyenas and you would get a good picture. Another did this sort of trippy interpretive dance as he was "feeling" the music. For me, I split into three different me-s all pretty much at the same place and time, but looking outward from three slightly different vantage points. It was quite interesting to try, but I can't imagine smoking this on a regular basis.
can't remember who but one regular poster said he smoked the salvia and watched tv in his room but it was "more like the tv watched me".....i have never tried it, think i will stick to the shrooms.
Hmmm, do you think that Bas had something else in mind when he created this "trips report" section? LMAO!

We (Anty and myself) have experimented several times with Salvia. IMO, it is NOTHING like mushrooms. They say you have to smoke it in a water pipe (bong), and use a butane lighter for a stronger source of flame. We have been told you take a big hit, and hold it as long as you can. With the raw leaf, it usually takes about 3-5 hits to really feel it. Buck0five is right about what salvia is. We also can get "raw leaf", which sort of reminds me of bay leaves used for cooking.

As for the trip it gives you, we both agree it makes you sweat. You get hot, and sort of feel a tingling/prickly feeling all over. The taste is not much to be desired, sort of tastes like a cross between really bad weed and old socks. For me, the trip lasts about 5-7 minutes, being VERY visual. The room sort of spins, and its like a tunnel affect. Forget about talking....you won't be able too.

Anty describes her trip as very different then mine. Along with the sweating and prickly feeling, she sees no visuals. Her trip is all about audibles. Music slows down, speeds up, and she says she somewhat "feels" the music going through her.

We have smoked salvia with several of our friends. They all describe something different. One even said she did not like it, as it made her feel to "weird" and "out of control". One said the floor seemed to disapear, and he was floating on air.

After your trip, sometimes you feel "stoned" or "relaxed" for about 30-45 minutes. All in all, we think its pretty cool. And....its LEGAL!
Reading all this trip reports is making the wait until Saturday unbearable. When I arrive, I will have to be awake for one week continuously to do all the things I want to do.
Yeah, I liked the Salvia too and I didn't get any kind of hangover from smoking it. I felt calm and relaxed for the rest of the day (this was after smoking it upstairs at the Bluebird)

An indescribable, unique experience, defnitely worth a go in my opinion.
There are a lot of salvia trip reports on www.erowid.org

Maybe I'm getting old but I don't feel the desire to try salvia.
This is a very intense drug and scares the sh*t out of some people.
Its not necessarily a fun time.
