ATM withdrawal limits

Someone had previously posted the maximum daily ATM withdrawal limits for the major Dutch banks. I tried searching the knowledge base and the forum and couldn't find it. If anyone has this info could you repost?
I believe it was 250 or 300 Euro per 24 hrs or in the case of Friday until that time on Monday. With at least 4 different banks in town, that would be at least 1000 to 1200 Euro per day/weekend.

So if I take out ?250 at say Rabobank, I can take out ?250 at ABN AMRO, etc.? F--k me, I did not know that. That knowledge could have come in handy quite a few times. F--k, I'm an idiot.
But don't forget that your bank has a limit too! I keep two different bank accounts for that purpose. Safety net as well.
Begawk!
Hey LTD
All you have to do is contact your bank to have your debit card's daily withdrawal limit raised.

I may be really wrong but, PERSONALLY have never run into an ATM that had a weekend limit. I have withdrawn $1000eu at one Amro over a weekend just to pay for my CityMundo (my bank didn't follow thru on upping my limit)

Another time, upon landing, I again withdrew a large amount from a single ATM for my CityMundo, after upping my limit.

I have taken out several hundred dollars, several times, from the same ATM over a weekend, never had a problem.

Dazzler on the other hand alerted me to the insane practice he must endure. English banks cap for the weekend which it what poses the problem. He can tell you more.

The only problem I have run into...OFTEN, especially around Dam sq. is the lack of money in the ATM's. There are long lines every night and I don't think the money lasts all night Saturday. On Friday mornings when I pulled out my $500eu for the weekend, I was feeling like a local who knew the ropes!

I would double check your info as there may have been a miscommunication.

I know that the ABM-AMRO atm's will only allow 250Euros from us living on the other side of the pond. Before I left, I specifically asked my bank to raise my limit, thinking it was $300. I was told that all limits had been raised to $500 for cash and $1,500 for purchases in a given day.
Not sure about the other bank atm's in A'dam though, seems that the ABM-AMRO machines were the only ones I used this trip.

(edited part) Just read Trekknhill's reply, which doesn't square with what happened to me this trip, so I'm not sure what is the reason why I could only withdraw the 250euros. But this is what happened to me in June.
My new limits were $1500 cash and $2000 purchase. That might explain it.
dannymac, My experiences have been that if you have your daily limit increased by your home bank, to say $500 or $750 a day withdrawl limit, it is possible to withdraw that amount. I think where the problem is, is ABN-AMRO is NOT customer friendly at all..and that includes their atm's. Using a Postbank (my first choice) or GWK atm, you should be able to withdrawl up to *your banks* authorized limit, daily. Peace. Puffin13

LTD, beware old ATM machines. In April, one of the old ones at ABN-Ambro on Dam square gave us a real scare. I asked for 400 euros, and it seemed happy to oblige. It gave us our card back, told us to take our money. Problem - no money emerged!

Inside the bank, the pleasant but unconcerned advice was that this happened soemtimes, and to try a newer machine. As to whether we had just lost 400 euros, well, that was a matter to take up with our bank when we got home.

So we tried another machine, got our 400, and later found we hadn't lost out. But it did put us off ABN-AMRO and their machines. I would agree with Puff.

I never come across new ATM machines. Everytime I take out money I'm afraid that the money won't be coming out, but I've been lucky and never had a similar situation as the one you described. It's funny, the ATM's over there seem to have the same relaxed manner as the people, transactions seem to have a bit of a lag.
ING Bank has reliable machines. I went to Robobank once and there was no english and I was worrying because nothing was happening, and finally it spit my card out and said something like "befunkt" or something which i figured meant "broken"
ABN is OK, but I seriously don't take out as much money as you guys do. E250 for two, hopefully three days. I didn't evem think about my withdrawl limit all 3 times i went.
Remember about the machines running out over the weekend, it is a real problem around the centrum.
amst:

Youre not the only one that encountered that problem. I to, in April as a matter of fact, had the same problem. This was an ABN-AMRO on Leidseplein though. I punched in 200 Euros and it said take your card and money. No money. Then as i tried again it said my daily limit was exceeded, whcih is another problem considering my limit was defintely higher than 200 Euros. But to make long story short, i ended up walking up Leidsestraat and finding another ATM and getting my money and finding out that i didnt lose that 200 euros.

Was very scary though.
