Have stayed at the Park Hotel and did not rate it! Room was small and reported to management about seeing a mouse in Dinning room, Received letter of apology but nothing else. Now stay at one of two 5star hotels for about the same price or sometime even cheaper that what the park hotel charges. Definately NOT a 4star Hotel.
I've heard similar complaints about the park hotel. I was horrified when my priceline bid for a 4* hotel came back as being for the park hotel. Priceline has since downgraded the Park to a 3*, and I got my money refunded because of that! I did the exact same bid again and got the Mariott.
I'll also use this as an opportunity to plug priceline... i've been having great luck with their hotels lately. You get to pay in dollars, and 4* hotel rooms in places like the renaissance, the mariott, the swissotel, raddison SAS etc can be had for under 80 dollars a night! They also have a 5* category that has the grand sofitel (among others) that you can get for around 150 dollars a night. Compared to the regular prices of hotel rooms in euros, it's unbeatable. Check out www.biddingfortravel.com - it's a message board where people post their winning bids, so you can get an idea of what you should bid.
I am in no way afiliated with priceline or biddingfortravel, I've just become a regular user of those sites due to the money i've saved.
EDIT: priceline also has a UK site for those who are interested
