Favorite Bruin Cafes?

Lots of discussion about favorite CSs, but none about Brown Bars. Myself, I prefer killing an afternoon nursing short drafts of Grolsch in a 250-year-old tobacco-stained hole-in-the-wall. Some favorites:

Het Molenpad
De Wetering
De Groene Olifant

And yours?
Sounds interesting, I've never been able to stay out of the coffeeshops long enough try one, and have no idea where one is that old. Are there any near De Kuil coffeeshop? If you know of a good one near De Kuil, I'd love to try it. I like dark brown Belgium beer, doubles not triples, and not much gas. Leffe Brune Dubbels are real good, can I get them on tap anywere, not bottles?

Otis
My favorites are: Club de Pilsener and Cafe T'dokertje. Also, for a nice cafe and great brew, I like Arends Nest, De Wildeman,Brokke Grond and T'Smalle. Dance Rummie, where are the ones that you mentioned located?
Can't really answer your questions, Otis, though from the description of De Kuil on the free.uk website, it sounds very much like it has classic bruin cafe decor. There are several nice ones (not all of which I've visited) clustered around the Spui, so if you're ever at Kandinsky or De Tweede Kamer you might just find one. Most exclusively serve Dutch beer, though I've heard that a few have Bass or Guinness on tap. It's not a brown bar, but Belgique, behind the Nieuwe Kerk, might be your place for Belgians on tap.

Sally, Het Molenpad is directly on Prinsengracht a stone's throw from the City Library. De Wetering is on a little tangle of backstreets just west of Vijzelgracht. De Groene Olifant is much further out, on Sarphatistraat, southeast of the zoo; still, if you're in the neighborhood....
If you want to visit one with some history stop into the cafe "Oest-West" in the RLD. This place was a meetingpoint for the Dutch resistance in WWII (note the old photos on the walls)

Ps have a beer in the window seat and watch drug deals go down only feet away, lol
Here's some to explore. Roode Baron, Dijk 120, De Zeemeeuw and my hangout around the corner from our barge the Likeurstokeru de Druif dates from the 1640's.

Gollum at 4 Raamsteeg is a great brown cafe. It's in an alley linking Spuistraat to Singel two bridges south of Raadhuisstraat, only a couple of blocks from the Bierkoning. Closer to De Kuil is the Belgique and The Wildeman which are great beer bars but not technically brown cafes. Also the Geneugten at 54 Kerkstraat (closer to the Leidseplein) is a smoke frinedly brown cafe with a college age clientelle and better prices than some other places.
De Pilsner Club is the mutts nutts
What does that mean? Is it good? We enjoy the Pilsner club for a brew.
Thanks.
Mutts Nutts, I found it! It is the polite version of "Dogs Bollocks" meaning very good. I now have a new way to express myself :-) Mutts Nutts!!
You're awfully excited about a dog's balls there, Mustang Sally. ;-)

My favs are Gollum, In de Wildeman, Cafe de Tuin, t'Smalle, Het Molenpad. I'm planning on visiting several new ones this time around!
Thanx for that TTSally - that message really made me laugh!!!...Boner...
