Trip 26-28 feb
I really didn?t want to go this week and was looking forward to going in March with the SG crew but work commitments and a family ski trip the week after meant that it was last weekend or not again till June / July.
So here I am back from the dam after 3 days. And what a 3 days ffffuc**ng cold, sleet, snow and freezing rain.
Arrived early Thursday morning and were checked in to the hotel by 9.30am straight off to Barneys for breakfast. Had the full Irish, tea and a gram each of Mekong Haze and Morning Glory both were very good and the MG in particular was almost too strong for the first J of the trip. We got talking to a lovely American couple who visit the Channels sight, we shared a few vapo bags in Barneys so it?s not surprising that I forgot their names, but we bumped into them a few more times during the trip.
Fed watered but now with only ¼ of my brain functioning we went walking. I wanted to show my mate (a dam virgin) the toilet in Home Grown Fantasy.
We made it as far as Anyday, I have read so much about this shop and have passed it on countless occasions but either it has been to crowded or I have been going else where, we ventured in and purchased some Stella Blue and some Polm. The prices were keen and the quality was right up there. There is room upstairs and the shop is quite large (well larger than it looks from the outside).
From there it was a short stroll to De Kuil, (The HG toilet would have to wait) this place is getting too popular at the moment, and although Amsterdam was as quiet as I?ve ever seen it, De Kuil was rocking most of the time. The Blueberry is still good as is the Diesel we also bought some Milana Cream, very good and very strong. By about 4.00pm we were pretty wasted and decided to return to the hotel for a bit of shut ? eye.
We woke at 7.30 showered and hit the road by 8.00pm. Straight to Greenhouse Centrum for a few Gms of Hawaiian Snow. This was good but not great and the place was a full of pissed Brits so we went to Rick?s on the other side of the canal. After a fine steak at Gauchos, we retired to de Kuil via the RLD, Stones Café and a coffee and cake at Bubbas. After de Kuil, we went to Nes Café, which was a new one for me and I?ll definitely be back
Friday
Lay in till 11.00am then had a full Irish breakfast at Barneys followed by pool and beer at de Kuil at about 3.00pm we set out for our Friday afternoon CS crawl. (It has become a tradition and the route and shops don?t change, You guys should try it)
Start at Rokerij (pick up some poison at Picassos), Siberie, Home Grown Fantasy (my mate finally got to piss in the toilet), Grey Area, Abraxas, Dutch flowers, we aim to hit DF at about 4.30pm, just sitting and chilling watching the good folk of this great city prepare for the weekend. From there Dampkring, Dolphins, Bushdoctor, Rokerij, Bluebird and finish off in the RLD. This walk can take from 2 ? 5 hours depending on how stoned you are and of course how much time you spend in each shop. The rest of the evening was spent chilling and playing pool in Zizis (?) the little bar next door to the Old church (they don?t see weed but don?t mind you smoking). From there we staggered to de Kuil for a night cap or 3.
Saturday, we were flying out just after lunch so after a hearty breakfast at the hotel, I had a rather bad experience at Paradise CS (covered under the CS section on this sight).
We spent the morning shopping and chilling at Ricks, Greenhouse and de Kuil
Fuck what a great few days hope to be back soon Oh damn reading these reports are getting addictive.
I'm gonna hafta maximize the Amsterdam portion of my trip, this sounds exactly like I want my vacations to sound like.
Thanks for the details Spliffy. Really enjoyed your trip report - glad to see that the Poison from Picassos is getting popular (then again maybe not - there might be non left come september)...Boner... I like spending time at Rick's too. It is just around the corner from our Hotel. We usually start the day at Rick's and finish there. The people there have always treated us right. We would usually grab one of the tables upstairs and play cards and drink a few beers and burn a few. Then it is only a short stumble back to our room.
