Re: Boner

Now that the dog is back, I may reconsider. Only much of it is a blur and I kept really weird hours.

Anyone want to read: I got up at 3 in the morning, walked around Amsterdam until noon, doing nothing but looking at things, then I went back to the hotel to sleep for a while, then I hung out at Softland and Freeworld coffeeshop.

That is how the first few days start out.

Hey sd. How you doin'?

What's it like at 3AM(03:00)? Any people around? Did you feel safe?

Adjusting to that time difference is a bitch, isn't it? My first time, my nephew's buddy said the best strategy was to just stay up all day on arrival day. So that's like 34-35 hours without sleep. It did not work as i got over-tired, had trouble sleeping anyway, and was pretty zombielike the next morning. Not that I cared. I was in Amsterdam. :D

My last reports have been very long. This one will be much shorter.

My brother, wife and I spent 12 days in Amsterdam from April 16 - 28th.

Best of the trip:

The weather, half the time.

Spending time with fellow channelites.

And our dear friends Jinks420 and MrsJinks420

Abraxas and their ultra fine gear; Hawaiian Haze, Orange Bud and Juicy Fruit

Barney's. Nothing starts the day off better than Mekong Haze and a basket of toast.

The bacon sarney Mrsjinks420 lovingly made for me at their city mundo apartment

Mango Looza

The night time canal cruise

The Renaissance hotel

All you can eat Dim Sum

Watching the sunrise over Leidseplein 3 mornings in a row.

Proving to Jinks420 and Mrsjinks420 that Mrs. SDShadow actually exists.

Watching Mrs. Boner apprehensively try peanut butter and Hershey bars for the first time and remark, "That is actually quite nice".

Renee at the Dolphins welcoming me back and giving me free drinks and saying thank you for coming again.

The frites from the hole in the wall.

Kaasthingy from FEBO.

I will be back in 6 months.

Not so good of the trip:

The weather, half the time.

My body refusing to accept a new time zone and making me wake up 3:30 in the morning the first few days.

Going home when I had just really fell into the whole Amsterdam trance.

The Jamaican schwag I bought from Coffeeshop Media. I should know better.

I have to wait 6 months to go back.

Regrets

I never went to Amnesia.

I didn't rent a bike.

Many of the channelites blew off the Softland meeting.

I hope to see many of you for the 10th anniversary.

SDShadow

C'mon dude your publics waiting :)

...Boner...(Still trying to do days 4 and 5)
That's like a trip report on fast forward!

Thanks for sharing.

Ha! I am also terrible at names, right boner? hehe

My friend in the wheelchair was BernieW from Canada.
He's from the Smokers Guide board, and quite the trooper
to repeatedly take on Amsterdam's cobblestones and
construction time and time again.

Good to meet you sdshadow. Wish we had met again last month!

See you in April:)
