December Trip
is there an outback steakhouse in amsterdam?? if so, is it a dutch version or pretty close to its american version?
thanks ..oops.. Don´t know what exactly happened with the other message...!!
-But anyway, thanks a lot for your answers.. I´m a female, 24. Does that make it easier or harder with what you had in mind??? The Outback always needs good staff. I'm planning on moving to Amsterdam on the 1st November...
in terms on job websites for English speakers please see the list below:
http://www.adamsrecruit.nl/
www.ranstadcallflex.nl
www.undutchables.nl
not a complete list but still a good place to start for ya I´m thinking of moving to Amsterdam, and I´m just wondering if it´s easy to find a job?? -I don´t speak dutch, but english... (and danish!! -I´m from Denmark!!)
Does anybody know?? What do you do? Ahh, I forgot to say, sorry... Well I was thinking of working in a restaurant, a bar or so... But really, it doesnt matter -I´m not so choosey:-) I guess it´s not easy at all, when I don´t speak dutch... Shouldn't matter, as long as you stick with an Aussie/British/Irish bar.
Are you male or female?
Despite anyone's suspicions I'm asking about gender for a reason, as I may know somewhere which is likely to be looking for people. This link has been posted before for people in your situation. Hope it helps: http://www.expatica.com

Hopefully it won't be as difficult for you as it is for non-EU citizens to find work. There used to be a site hosted by ACCESS, but I don't think it's still working. I'm considering a trip to Amsterdam during the week between Christmas and New Years (12/26 - 12/31). This would be my second time to the City. I was first there in September 2004. Can't wait to get back. My questions....does Amsterdam 'shut down' during that time. What would the weather be like. My wife doesn't have that time off, but with a little persuasion, I'm sure she'd wish me a good time. I'm somewhat hesitant about going myself. After a visit to a coffeeshop, her presence is 'calming'...if you know what I mean. That's not really a question...but what the hell. Man, did we have a great time during our first visit. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Chasbo... Hi, welcome. I was in Amsterdam last year in mid-December, and can tell you that the city does not shut down.
This thread will give you a very general idea of what things are like around that time:
http://www.channels.nl/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=7215&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=
The weather when I was there was rainy. It rained every day. Not the entire time, but at least once a day. It wasn't nearly as cold as I thought it would be - no snow, no frozen canals - but come prepared for chilly, wet weather.
I suggest you do some searching through the active threads or the Knowledge Base if you want to find some more good info/ideas. This place is a gold mine. Otherwise, ask some more questions and someone will answer.
