Plans for Honeymoon....

hi d - how romantic!!! a honeymoon in amsterdam - that will be fantastic. i just came back from a holiday there, and stayed in a hotel in the leidesplein district. loved it, and will stay in the same area next trip because it's a great area. there is a huge square filled with terraces and surrounded by cafes etc, so perfect to take a beer or coffee outside and watch the street performers, or walk around. while it's filled with cafes and bars, i still found it slightly less tourist-y than the dam area.since it's a honeymoon, you will have to do the candle light boat tour. i also think that a very romantic thing to do would be to just wander the city at night, bridges and such are strung with lights.more advice if you've not been there: study a map before you go, and then leave it at home! it's an easy city to find your way around in once you understand how it's shaped, if you get lost it's no big deal because you'll find your bearings again easily. it's a charming place to get a little lost in.as fare as air fares go, remember that spring and summer are 'high season', so air rates go up, my fare for october was $679 if that gives you an idea. may be harder to find a rate around $600. i also know that AAA members can sometimes get fairly good packages. i bought my ticket through www.expedia.com after some searching, and found their rates to be the best online for that time frame.congrats and good luck to you both, i know that you'll not forget your honeymoon in such a breathtaking city.
