Vaporizers

Not so much an Amsterdam question, but this seems like the place for it:

Anyone wish to share their opinions on vapes? Looking to buy one soon, leaning toward a Happy Vappy to avoid bags or some funky looking bit o' machinery. Tired of the smoke and mess of bongs, starting to think about the health implications after almost 30 years of smoking.

Not going to AMS til next year, but can't wait til then to try a vape!
Actually I would like to know if there are any portable models in the Dam for purchase.
Anyone wish to share their opinions on vapes?

I have used about 5 varieties and
I got a Volcano.. Best way to smoke weed. It tastes like a freshly cut field. Not smoke flavor but the real GRASS flavor!
Volcano? Well, yeah if I wanted to pay that much and wanted to deal with bags. But I look forward to getting down with one in AMS.

After reading you comment, I would have to suggest a vapor brothers. No funky looking machinery and very affordable. I own one and am very happy with it. It just sits on the desk and looks like a pencil sharpener.

I bought family a Vape Daddy last Alvis Day, and it continues to satisfy.

That said, once you get a taste of the Volcano, you may decide to save up for one. I know if I still smoked daily, I would be putting aside $50 a week for a few months.
I have a Vapo and would definitively recommend one. Forget about the price, this bad boy pays for itself in no time. Also that 5 year warranty is pretty nice, so you know it's going to last. To bad you can't rent one for a week or two, let you try it out, then you'll be placing your order. LOL AzLaker
I bought a cheaper unit, BC, and it was good, but not good enough. I am saving up for the volcano too. But from your original statement, you are correct that endlessly smoking has greater risk than other methods such as vaporization. That said, marijuana does not cause emphysema or lung cancer like tobacco (solid research on this) but can cause bronchitis and increased risk of oral and throat cancer (again, not like tobacco), and possibly fungal lung infections.

aloha
I have the Dr. Vapor. I find that I need about 3 times as much weed to make it work right.

I am not sure that this is optimum, but I cannot maintain the Volcano in my living situation so this will have to do. I alternate bet. other methods, but Ideally would prefer to vape full time,

I recently tried to red lebanese hash that is very crumbly and it worked fine altho I put it on top of some weed.

This is all I use. I like it better then the Volcano, and I have used both plenty of times. Now Vapo Brothers needs to produce a European unit.

I also have a Vapor Brothers & have been using it steadily since 2003. It's still going strong, and everyone who's tried it has been favorably impressed. Yes, a Volcano is better, but the Vapor Bros. is a lower cost alternative, doesn't require bags, and takes up a bit less room.
With high hopes, I've actually gone ahead and taken the plunge with the Vappy. It'll probably come sometime next week.

So I guess no one one has experience with this unit?

http://www.volatizer.com/html/vm3_unit.html Anybody out there that has experience with this device??? Anyone who posts to other forums ever read anything about it???? OMG. . .another piece of $500 paraphernalia.

BTW. . .let us know how you like the Vappy. TIA

I don't. I saw it advertised in CC magazine and looked into getting one but decided to stick with the one I already have since it works fine for me. Happy Vappy does have a website & blog, for what that's worth:

I hope you'll let us know what you think about it once you've used it.

In an ongoing search for truth, justice, and the psychedelic way, here are a couple of links to good vaporizer sites with discussions. There is a lot of info on the VM3 on the first site.

Now Inhale Deeply!
Vaporizers don't make inhaling easier, unfortunately. I tried one at a coffeeshop and it no easier on the lungs than a straight joint. Very potent, though.
Man all this talk about vaps makes me wanna try it real bad :P.

Um like can sumone give me the lowdown on the basics of it.

Like i read a bit " it seems like it just heats up the weed so just THC is released?"

What happens to the bud after u VAP it ?. Do you chop it up ?

Is there any smoke at all ? how many lungfulls of VAP do u get from a normal sized cone ?

Thanks PPL :D

The VOLCANO System Vaporizer releases flavors and active ingredients from herbs through vaporization by hot air.
Optimum treatment of the active ingredients reduces the development of harmful substances and odours to a minimum. This means that even non-smokers find the vaporizer enjoyable.

A further advantage of the VOLCANO is the exploitation of active ingredients, being 3-4 times greater when compared with smoking, an aspect which makes the investment in the device pay for itself in the shortest time possible.

The unique patented VOLCANO System technology conveys air enriched with flavors and active ingredients into a balloon through a valve. The generated vapors will be completely collected in the balloon. After the filling the valve balloon it can be completely detached and separated from the device. The content may be inhaled at ease, independently from the vaporization process both comfortably and safely.

The VOLCANO has already gained a reputation among experts as the most technically advanced and professional vaporizer available.
The accurate air temperature control sets new standards for vaporizers in precision and reliability. Stringent selection of material, impeccable processing and practical in its form, the VOLCANO combines simplicity of use, a high degree of safety and particularly good efficiency.
Darshunt, I thought the same, until I tried a much lower setting. Not only do you get more bags that way, but the intensity of the bags(the thc %) will allow you to inhale normally. At first I was setting the temp. control at 7, as they are in Amsterdam and filling the chamber to the max given in the instructions. I was coughing a lot as my lungs were filled to the max. Now I never cough or experience anything but bliss. Just experiment until satisfied. My brother has early emphysema, and couldn't use the vaporizer at first, and actually went back to smoking joints for the same reason, but I have adjusted the temp for him, and now he loves it.
Just back in town yesterday and the Happy Vappy had arrived a few days earlier. I immediately tried it out, and a number of times since, and am pleased with the results! This is nothing new to old vaping hands, but the taste and high are definitely different (and the high is stronger).

Don't have anything other than the usual bong/pipe/joint thing to compare it to yet. But I like the simplicity of the unit and the overall cleaner experience. It's hard to imagine dealing with balloons for the daily buzz.

I had a chance to use one of these units yesterday. A buddy bought one and left it for me to try and give him my opinion. My opinion was that he should return it for a refund.

I tried it first thing in the morning, so I was "fresh" and would know what kind of buzz it produces. Filled the cup with some nice blueberry and heated up to the recommended temp, and took 7 or 8 nice long draws. Nothing, nada, zip, zero, not even a hint of a buzz. Just a slight (and I do mean slight) taste came off the bud.

Oh yeah, as a sanity check, I took the remainder of the BB bud and loaded up a bowl. Got the high expected from the BB, so the lack of buzz didn't come from the herb.

Of course, YMMV.

Happy Trails....

SO TRUE...........
too many shops in amsterdam go for an aggressive 6.5 - 7.0 setting and it will make you cough. I go with a 6.0 and typically make it 5.5 after the first 1-2 bags are pulled off of a chamber packing.......then take another 1-2 off the same chamber packing. This is naturally because the packed substance is much drier after the first couple of bags. NOTE: If the packing material is a dry, whispy sativa i start at 5.5 right away.

Depending on the bag size, your first 1-3 bags taste the best. That is because the natural perfume in the bud depletes at that point. But their is still plenty of THC left in the packing material after this perfume depletes. Bags 4-6 will get you high they just don't taste nice and get progressively harsher on the throat. I find the best thing to do is take 3 bags off of a packing, dump the packing into a zip until I've got 1/2 - 1 z of popcorn and then make brownies!!!

But there is one major point that darsunt has overlooked........HIT SIZE!
A joint gives a small hit that is easily handled by the lungs. The volcano allows you to pull a bong hit sized hit of concentrated vapor. It is naturally harder to handle that much larger of a hit. Be it smoke or vapor. You saying a joint hit of smoke is easier on the lungs than a volcano bag hit of vapo is like saying it hurt more getting hit by a rubber car traveling at 60mph than a regular car at 5mph. :)
Thanks to all who volunteered such good factual info on vaporizers, especially Koopa--the volcano expert. I will definately try it your way with the slightly lower settings.

happy to help.....please follow up and let me know how it works out comparatively. If you find another method you prefer, please share it and I'll be happy to give it a go as well!

Thanks VERY much. . .nothing like the voice of experience. . . .I do believe that the first folks to execute this concept successfully will have a niche similar to Storz und Bickel. . . . Storz und Bickel are you listening. . .are your engineers busy. . .we are waiting. . . .or how about a Blackberry that also functions as a vaporizer?????? Nah!. . .What a buzz kill a Blackberry can be! Now where is that large awkward wonderful tasty mind bending bag.

Yes, S&B, it's ALL your fault!
My vapewarez is still going strong after 7months of continual use, The light on the on/off switch recently burned out(or only lights up when it wants too) so now I actually have to wait till the rod part "glows" before using

I still favor my bong hits over my vap hits though
