Re: Looking for accomodation

Hope this helps

Rather than endlessly direct people to your web site, try answering the question instead!

I thought I did. What did do?

Do not be rude to Ms. Baggy.

For a start one had to repost this comment for a 2nd time, which got deleted.
Secondly, pointing out listlessness with relentless direction to your web site, without answering anything directly.
Thirdly, LOL this is easily proving.

Had you actually clicked on the link it would have taken you to a list of budget accommodations in Amsterdamâ?¦isnâ??t that what you were looking for? Why act like such a miserable sack of shit when someone tries to help?

Wara teg. Things must be more boring in South Wales than I'd realised

What exactly was it that got deleted then?

Just a small correction to balou's post.

You can bid through www.priceline.com

You cannot bid through hotwire. hotwire is not a bid type of system. It offers you hotels at certain prices but does not tell you the name of the hotel....although many can figure out which hotel it is.

Normally PL will be cheaper than HW.

But for several days, a week or so ago , priceline had nothing at a decent cost during the IBC conference while Hotwire had a 4 star east (it was the movenpick) for about $93 USD a night. In that case HW was a better deal than PL $$wise.

In that case HW was a better deal than anything going on in AMS as far as hotels during a normally sold out time.
balou is correct about bidding4 but the fact is that they have only a few winning bids for Amsterdam and some of those are pizz poor high bids.

I'd look at bidding4, at betterbidding.com, and at the TripAdvisor-AMS forum.

Get as much info as you can.

You cannot bid through TA, unlike those other 2 sites, but those folks will walk you though your bid.

(and unlike bidding4 they will not ban you for a stupid question or a comment the owner does not like--- 100's have been banned there so do be careful because they will fix it so you cannot read there either).

At TA they will tell you exactly how much to bid.

Try bidding on a site like priceline.com or hotwire.com for a great deal at a 4*. http://biddingfortravel.yuku.com/forums/111/t/Netherlands-Belgium.html will give you an idea of the recent winning bids.

Balou
Take a look on Expedia... new (opened June 2009) Golden Tulip in Amsterdam west has a deal for staying 5 nights... 40% off...
hotel hortus, you'll have fun there and meet people.
You can stay at a 1 or 2 star like the Cornerhouse but it is almost a certainity that you will be paying more than if you were to stay in a 4 or 5 star hotel such as the NH Kras, Grand Hotel Amrath (both 5 stars) or the NH Carlton or NH Amsterdam Centre (both 4 stars).

Pay less , especially with the 4 stars, and stay in a much nicer hotel.

I will not repeat all the advice I have seen on the Trip Advisor Amsterdam Forum but they have loads of it there dealing with Priceline bidding.

People are making a killing on hotels who follow their advice. Saving over $200 a night per room many times.

Or you can listen to the advice here, spend more, and stay in a 1 or 2 star as has already been suggested.
Abba, Old Quarter, Cornerhouse............
