Re: AMSTERDAM ,R U READY?
One of my Medical Marijuana experiences involves providing for 3 people with cancer . The longest time period so far is 6 years . I met the good Dr. at a healing center place. He asked me a couple of questions and discovered I made great hash. I traded him 2 grams for his signature on my paperwork. I sent the paperwork in with 90 bucks and had my official license in about 8 weeks. A copy of the paper work sufficed in the mean time.
I believe anyone could come here as a guest, see "the Dr." and be able to partake the same day with your temp paperwork.
Nice job, MHD... I hope you can see this as giving more credibility to the belief that most of these "prescriptions" are given to stoners with no real medical problems.
Are you a doctor?
And your point here? Some people are better human beings when they are drunk or shot up with heroin also... what is your point?
You say tomatoe, I say tomato...
Dr. Who..."I recommend you smoke as much high grade bud as you can to help you deal with your ingrown toenail, Mr. Jones. As a matter of fact, I think we should categorize your ingrown toenail as "chronic ingrown toenail" so you can come back every year and get my "recommendation." Did anyone PM you the answer?
I will be in Amsterdam during your visit. I am Denver at the moment.

Are you a doctor? Yes, very stoked that CO is blazing the trail here. Breckenridge legalized pot at the city level, and the legislature will be working to tax MJ in the near future, further legitimizing the trade.
MHD, you in town for long? We should meet up for a drink and a smoke! This is good news about Rhode Island. I had not heard anything about this. I follow the Norml.org podcasts but haven't heard anything (just listening to this for the past month or so).
They talked about some new hash on marijuanaradio.com that is based in Denver so they probably mean MHD's hash. I think they mentioned the healing center but am not sure. They have talked about this place alot.
I can't wait to visit Denver. I received my California medical marijuana recommendation at the beginning of 2008. I found a doctor online. I had 5 knee surgeries, so I had a folder of documents with me. I was prepared for anything and everything. The doc asked a lot of questions as he sifted through the volumes of documents in my folder. I felt like he was trying to figure out if I was a Federal agent or just a guy with jacked up knees. After the nod was given I paid $90 and received the recommendation.
The doctor was cool. He asked me if my back gets stiff? He said marijuana is a great muscle relaxant. I thanked him for the tip.
I jumped in my car and raced to the nearest dispensary. I could feel my back tightening up already.
Chili Back in Colorado for a couple of days when a friend called and said the Dr was in.
I now hang out at the Healing House. An Amsterdam style(for lack of better description) coffeeshop with a great menu and several pounds on site and in stock. There are at least 20 dispensaries within 2 miles of my house and another 100 or so within 20 miles. I can walk to many in a few minutes. One has a 5500 Sq Ft. smoking lounge.
I believe anyone could come here as a guest, see "the Dr." and be able to partake the same day with your temp paperwork. I also believe Colorado is reciprocal with some states and your license will work there. Cali is not one of them unfortunately. But I hear they got shit weed there anyway.
If you want to see whats available, just go to the Denver Craigslist and use Marijuana as a keyword for a search. You will be blown away by whats going on here. The Colorado Gold rush of 2009 and or, The new Wild West it's being called. I have seen Broadsterdam T-shirts(named after Broadway aka the green mile). Thanks to NYNY for the idea on this thread:
I would be more than happy to share my California medical marijuana experience with everyone here.....
It took about two years of living in San Francisco until I realized that I've got to get my "card". It seemed like more and more of my friends were getting theirs and it was about time I got mine!
Step 1: Went to a "cash" doctor in the Mission district and complained of some true problems I've had for a few years. I had a stressful job and complained about tension headaches, back pain, insomnia and just plain moodiness. All of which were true. Of course, he prescribed some pills....
Step 2: Went to the "pot doctor" with my medical record and prescription for all of these pills the other doctor prescribed. There are several "pot doctor's" in SF and all around California now, they even advertise in local free papers. Paid the $100 and was given a medical marijuana prescription.
Step 3: Took the pot prescription to SF city hall (at the time SF had a card program, now you have to go to SF General Hospital and get a California State card). Waited in line, had my photo taken and was given my first medical marijuana card. No name was on the card, just a photo and a number, and the city did not take a copy of the pot prescription....
Step 4: At first I tried almost every "club" in SF. Until I found my favorites, one of which was within walking distance to my apartment in the Lower Haight....
I experienced over 6 years of pot bliss living with my card. I had to go back to the "pot doc" each year and renew, it was well worth it. As for the selection, my club had what I felt was the best product with the best prices. Great selection of indica, sativa, hash, hash oil, keef, and plenty of edibles.
But not only did they provide me with my medicine, some of which was free when I lost my job, but they also provided a nice safe and fun atmosphere to medicate. April 20th was like a holiday there, they brought food in and had a band play at 4:20pm. I made great friends there and still keep in touch with some of them.....
Looking back it was some of the best times of my life, living "the dream" in SF.... Thanks for reading, let me know if you have any questions, and please share comments..... Glad to see you back on the board MHD! Thanks CJ for a very enlightening story.
Jealous does not begin to describe my feelings when reading your tale.
Now I have a better understanding on how this process works, at least in California.
I was hoping to get a prescription in Rhode Island, since they recently passed a medical marijuana law and my wife and I have a house there.
Unfortunately, Hobie (who lives in RI) says RI law only allows these prescriptions for residents, which is not an option for me right now.
Hopefully NY or CT will pass a similar law one of these days. NY, Just passing the Medical Marijuana law, while this is great, is not enough. I want what Colorado, California, and Oregan have, dispensaries and coffeeshops. The new pot cafe in Oregan, you should check this out. They provide weed for free, in pipes or vapos. People have been donating weed. It's run as a private club, with no cash consideration for the weed, which is the language of the law.
It almost makes me proud to be an American again, lol. They had international reporters having a look.
You can check the report on this pot cafe on norml.org Monday's podcast, it's worth listening to the interview with the owner. They expect to do a live podcast from there this Saturday night.
from what I have been reading, NY is still not close to passing it. Our hopes in the east coast would be Massechusettes, I expect them to open dispensaries in a year or 2.
But once, if, California passed full legalization, this could change things all over. So MHD are you still in Amsterdam? or are you back living in Denver, I was always unclear about your living situation, the Dutch Coffeeshop Experience movie gave me the impression you lived in Mokum year round. I also believe Colorado is reciprocal with some states and your license will work there. Cali is not one of them unfortunately. But I hear they got shit weed there anyway.

Philter,
I don't know if you are aware of it, but Hobie informed us Rhode Island recently passed a medical marijuana law. I had a perscription the first year and my medical card for the last two years . Dispensaries will open in RI in 2010 .
Howdy MHD , long time no see . alles goed ?
and RI and Colorado honor eachothers card . . .
Rhode Island is looking into just making weed legal ... the baLL is roLLing Damn, I'm living in the wrong state. this just in . . .

Yesterday, Rhode Island's study commission on marijuana prohibition held its first hearing. The commission, chaired by Sen. Joshua Miller (D-Cranston), was created by the Rhode Island Senate and is charged with exploring the revenue impact on the state of Rhode Island if the legislature were to allow the regulated sale of marijuana and impose an excise tax on it of $35 an ounce. The commission is also charged with looking into the effects that marijuana prohibition has on individuals and families charged with marijuana-related crimes, the relative harms of marijuana and other legal and illegal drugs, and the experience of other nations and states that have decriminalized marijuana.
The commission also includes a medical marijuana caregiver, Brown University economics Prof. Glenn Loury; Nick Horton of OPENDOORS; Donna Ploicastro, executive director of the Rhode Island Nurses Association; Dr. David Lewis, the founder of Brown University's Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies; and Jeffrey Miron, a professor of economics at Harvard University. The commission will report its findings to the legislature by the end of January. I met the good Dr. at a healing center place. He asked me a couple of questions and discovered I made great hash. And they are recommendations, not prescriptions. Good for one year of self medicating at any dose level. Let's not rehash stale hash. I think I'll pass on that bud that has been under her sniffer. Damn, to think I use to live just off of Broadway, between the old Gates plant & the old Montgomery Wards. Glad to hear there's new things going on in that area! You're a good man, Hobie. And this is precisely why other states contiinue to balk at the whole concept of Medical weed. Not that the bud grubbing fakers clogging the dispensaries would give a shit eh?
Quite frankly...the state can shove their Medical mj, their physician's fees for a recommendation, their fees to grow, and their tax on bud as well. Cat,
IF legalization happens, the state will have to get its share of the pie through taxation, fees, etc.
I am more than willing to pay these costs in order to smoke legally.
I would have thought you would feel this way too. I ask myself that question every day!
But seriously, it was a family decision. I was "between jobs" at the time and we decided to move to my wife's country of Brazil for a while. Now were back living in southern CT and hoping that I can get back out there at some point.... To me, Northern California is truly paradise! The state can bite me. I'll be growing my own under the wire as I always have. I won't pay the state for the right to grow or smoke! I pay $75 dollars for a 2 year fee / license renewal .
there is another side to this medical thing http://hempoilcanada.com/
and probably more like Rick Simpson and his take on oil . And this is precisely why other states contiinue to balk at the whole concept of Medical weed. Not that the bud grubbing fakers clogging the dispensaries would give a shit eh?

I won't pay the state for the right to grow or smoke!Oh, you can certainly go stealth, as I'm sure many will continue to....BUT assuming decriminalization/legalization really happens, I think alot of growers will comply happily in order to grow and smoke peacefully. Besides, if legal like tobacco, the taxation will happen on the wholesale and retail end in the dispensaries/coffeeshops, etc....not to mention, they will probably load some sort of cannabis tax right into your state or local taxes without us even noticing it. I mean seriously, if the alternative to growing and smoking cannabis legally is jail or possibly losing your home or something worse, why would you not support it? Especially if you can grow a certain amount without fear of prosecution?...and like I said, the tax would most likely be figured right into the state/local taxes you already are paying so they dont have to try and convince you to comply. They're gonna get their portion somehow if it goes legal...believe it. I ask myself that question every day!

Hey CJ, I currently work in Darien, went to school in Fairfield and am moving to Greenwich, CT.
Welcome to southern CT (Unfortunately it's NOT southern CA) Thanks NYNY....
I've been living and working in Stamford now for a month and I like it so far....
PM me if your ever up for a meet up/smoke out sometime..... Are muncies only available in Indiana? What's in 'em?
PS - Happy Thanksgiving to all. Just like me: get stoned, get the munchies, eat some brownies, get more stoned, get the muncies, eat some more brownies, etc.
PotHead I seem to bake one batch a year, keeping the goods in the freezer until I'm ready for 'em. It doesn't seem to decrease their effectiveness. Perhaps freshest is best. About a month ago I made a batch of brownies with some pretty good weed. Fresh out of the oven, the brownies kicked in about an hour after eating with a deeply stoned body high.
I tried a couple 2 weeks after being kept in the freezer and the high did not seem as strong.
How long is the shelf life of a baked brownie?
Does freezing them reduce the effectiveness of the THC? anything with a lot of sugar in it will have a high ph level and should keep for a good long time. Of course keeping it in the fridge or freezer will increase how long they last without becoming dangerous to your health. About a month ago I made a batch of brownies with some pretty good weed. I think it has something to do with it, NYNY, but I haven't researched as to why. I had the same exact thing happen to me, but with cookies. They weren't as strong to me after being frozen. Glad to see someone else has experienced it, I thought maybe it was my high tolerance. They wouldn't last long enough in my house to warrant freezing them... I will give then about 4 days then by that time I won't touch them anymore. They become a bit rancid and not a high worth it. The freezing might extent it a bit. Weed stored in a baggie or other container retains its potency for at least a month or two if not longer.
I wonder why baked goods don't retain their potency for very long?
This may be a chemistry question. That's exactly what I'm thinking, NYNY, just haven't had time to research. I freeze all my eatables and have no problem ... of course they are in an zip lock bag as well . mine never last more than a month .
The freezer will zap out mositure ." freezer burn " Over a long period , perhaps its best to place them in the fridge . enjoy I'm ready to leave in like 12 hr. coming over to C.C. are you ready ?
