Don't be fooled by that inviting green light, as this coffee shops 'true' colours will definatley unfold once you step inside...the shebitch who served me was very rude! the menu had nothing under 20 euros and 4 euros for a bottle of water is appalling! They had absinthe for the same price in The Sheeba Coffee shop, just over on Warmoesstraat.
And speaking of The Sheeba, this CS never fails to disappoint me, great staff, lovely ambience. You can ask the staff to put any live music DVD on from their selection.
The Doors on Singel 14 was another great place, the young Dutch boy who worked there was easy to talk to and told us about his own personal experiences while growing up in Amsterdam.
If your a cat lover check out the cat boat (De Poezenboot) in the same area as The Doors, I enjoyed it here very much:) as you can see....

Visited both the Dampkring CS and both were great with reasonable prices, the one on Haarlemmerstraat was a lot bigger than the one on Handboogstraat (had to wait for a seat), was a bit gutted the 'Cherry Bomb' had sold out though!
Rushland was another great place also, and the many other CS I visited were great too...The GrassHopper was the only let down.
I did write a little info on each strain I bought, how much it cost and what coffee shop I bought the strains from but I lost my note pad! (grumble grumble cherry crumble), so here's a couple of photos I took of my purchases...(and a little info on what my 'brain' will allow me to remember!)

I was really looking forward to trying this mainly for the fact I Love the song 'Kashmir' by Led Zeppelin :P was disappointed with this one though, it wouldn't burn nicely.

I do remember a Chocolate haze though (sorry No photo!) this strain was simply amazing in everyway!
Conscious Dreams 'Kokopelli' comfy seats with scatter cushions, candles everywhere, they have different chill out beats you can listen to through headphones. While your chilling out with a spliff you can use the internet, have a drink, take some truffles and get all arty! they have paper and felts provided. The staff are great and so are the two cats that roam the shop....just giving a helping hand on the candle lighting...

The following photo are some truffles I tried (dolphins delight), these ones were the strongest, although I didn't find them to be 'overly' strong IMO and they made my bf throw up something rotten!

I agree with your opinion of the "Grasshopper" that you went to. It is my least favorite shop of all. The service was horrible, Non existent at times. If that isn't bad enough, you have to pay .50 Euro just to use the toilet.

I also agree, Grasshopper is a bit of a rip.... I have to tell you though it will go down in my "history" book. It was the first Amsterdam coffeeshop I ever walked into....
After trying out some of their products and what other shops had to offer, I never went back!

Yes it's true. There are many shops that have smoking sections for mixed joints. If the coffeeshop doesn't have a smoking section, then it has to be a pure joint. Most people turn a blind eye though.
Many have glass partitioned areas for tobacco doobage.
Some have even been known to turn a blind eye as long as you hide your baccy/fag pack.
Just ask
i have heard somewhere that smokin is not allowed in the main part of all coffeeshops now.. is this true? i understand that if u want tobac u have to go to the seperate smoking area... but this seems a bit far fetched, but just want to make sure...
