Vermeer Road Trip

Done Spain & Morocco, it's all subjective.
That is great you still have the pipe. I'm glad to hear it.
I'll be sure to pm you before I make a trip out to Colorado.

As for the weed in the Dam, there are still a few places that offer good bud. I am thinking the growers in the Dam want more yield over quality, keep more sifting to make their own hasj, and the case of "we don't give a shit" comes into play.
This will be my last trip to the Dam for gear. My next trip is out to Colorado and closer to my home, Washington.
I still love the Dam and will visit for the love of the city.

Happy Holidays shadow!
Fun times ahead!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6lhK5GMBD4 I dont know if this link will work but I was just checking out OHD's 2006 video on you tube. Good times.
Fun times. Fun!
I have made 20+ trips to Holland in the last 15 years and hold a medical card in California and reside in Colorado. I have had the great privledge of sampling and purchasing some great wares from shops and private collections in multiple locations. I can say, without question, that the offerings in Colorado are stronger, cheaper and all around better than what I find in coffeeshops in Holland. California is just as good of quality but more expensive (medical). Whether the quality in Amsterdam has dropped somewhat, I can not say for sure but I know that the "average" gear I buy in the states is better than the best gear I find in the centrum these days. ymmv.

PS Seouleast, I still have the peace pipe you gave me proudly displayed in my living room after all these years. A great memory from a great trip.
So, how was it?
Will do, thanks!

Colorado first.
I'm hearing that the quality of weed has dropped somewhat. 8 years since my last trip. Higher prices and ok weed.
At least I can buy freely and wander the streets. My tolerance goes up pretty fast. Give me an hour after my first joint and then I'm off smoking the ice.
This dab thing has appeared where there was none to be had. Wax, butter, shatter, bho.... new and wonderous times lie ahead.

Chichi, I don't puke. Never had a whitey. Never will. I will walk off a bit of sleepiness but then it's time to roll another. I've been in a proverbial jail, so to speak. About to get let loose.

Will report on site as I'll have my phone with me.

Merry Christmas everyone
Spain is the best place in Europe for a stoner now IMO, the weed/hash/extracts are better than Dam, about 1/2 the price, it's much warmer, better food, beaches etc etc...Take a ferry over to Morocco if you want something more exotic.
Yes. Spain is on my list for the next visit to Europe.
What is the scene like there? Similar to the Dam? Coffeeshop type places?

Not quite like Dam, as they are private members clubs that usually only take new members on recommendation. Barcelona is probably the best place for the weed scene and compact geography, beaches etc easily reachable...I don't have any contacts there yet, but I do on the Costa del Sol on the South coast, PM me if you want to plan a trip.

This explains the scene well:

So. My trip may be screwed, eh? Closing of the shops or no foreigners allowed in shops? WTF? Can anyone fill me in?
Thanks.
Amsterdam is still fabulous. Plan to enjoy yourself and stop worrying.
It hasn't changed that much.
most of the threats turned out to be bollocks. i think somewhere in the south still has the weedpass but that won't affect you in amsterdam. some shops near schools have to close during school hours on weekdays.

prices in general have gone up, but that's the same every where. for me the big change is the stamping out of seediness. street dealers aren't as picturesque as they once were, a lot of the prozzies are gone.

i've written this before on channels but it's worth doing it again. amsterdam is a woman who, when she was at her best, carried her own rohypnol and liked the taste of piss. over the years she has become sickened by her reputation and now wants flowers and respect in return for a tuppence that has slackened and lost most of what made her attractive in the first place.

by visiting amsterdam you are in no way wasting time or money, you can still buy weed in shops and openly smoke the fucker. which is very much the important thing.

after all these years i still love amsterdam and plan to be there for my 50th next year.
Also, it is no problem to have a beer and smoke...you just need to get your weit in a CS and smoke it in a bar, like the Waterhole.
I'm in the middle of organising a trip as a 21st birthday treat for my niece!

The apartment's booked but it's too far in advance to book the flights! How much are Easyjet charging these days for a return flight?

Peace, Des.
fuck easyjet. klm will take you from manchester for less than a ton.
even if you use easyjet for god's sake fly from manchester. fuck speke it's a shithole.

I worked in Speke for a year. I can confirm that it's a cackdump of the first order.

From the Beatles topiary hedge outside the train station to the Yellow Fucking Submarine outside the airport the whole place is a shabby, third-rate Beatles-themed nightmare.
I've just booked recently for a week before Xmas. Both Easy Jet & KLM fly from Bristol and I paid around £100 with Easy Jet (inc. luggage). I've flown many times with KLM, but they wanted about 40% more then Easy Jet. The flight only lasts about 50mins but KLM seem to have priority getting you to the terminal quicker once landed at Schiphol compared to Easy Jet which takes far, far too long to taxi upon arrival (stupidly long time, imo)
S.E. are weed and coffeeshops really the only reason you go to Amsterdam?

A fuckin' ton! ... Ouch!

I said I'd pay her and her twin brother's air fare as their birthday present off me!

I wish I'd kept my trap shut now!

Peace, Des.

If you time it right, you're only there about a hour! ... Just enough time to get arse raped six quid for a bacon barm and a cup of coffee!

Peace, Des.
It's business as usual, stop fretting fella.

yup
fabulous!
Thanks everyone.

Bo, no. I don't go there for just the smoke. I can get that in the states and it is more than comparable to the ones in the Dam. The nostalgia of visiting Europe for the first time (in the Dam), will always be with me. A cold, rainy day traversing through the canal streets wondering if I am just going in circles is awesome.
I have always enjoyed the people in the Netherlands, meeting travelers while lighting up with a shit eating grin is a plus. There is a certain magical appeal the Dam has for me.
Since I don't drink alcohol, the ability to openly buy wiet and hasj is an appealing factor all its own and definitely a bonus.
That being said, I do want to get blitzed. I need it. Want it. Love it. I'll leave the alcohol for others.
Well, smoke til ya puke then as Clammy would say!
About cost, for me when I first arrive I start with a cheaper weeed as I won't appreciate the better ones. and this particular one from Speakeasy is actually quite good, the THAI there was 5E per gram last year. But the hash there I did not like, they had a Lebanese red was nothing special. Hash I now will only get at 12-13 e LEVEL not worth chancing it but I am sure you can get still a good polm at 8E. I am looking forward to your reports.
14 of the 36 known Vermeer paintings can presently be seen at museums on the Eastern Seaboard of the US.
You can see them all in one book. Well, I guess if you have the funds, go for it?
A book???? Could view them on the Internet too....
Ffs

Nothing
Absolutely nothing compares to standing in front of the real painting!

That's doable for me. Live in the city with in laws in DC.. Phila is a short train ride away... Simple day trip. Cool.
I was viewing a Vermeer in the Rijks museum a few decades ago next to a man from Italy who was so moved by the painting that he began to tear up. One of those small paintings of a maid....quite lovely.
