Congratulations on NEW LOCATION!|
Hello, out there to all my Channelite buddies. I am finally
settled in my new job in Belgium. At the moment I'm house hunting.
It may be a long process because these houses have the smallest
rooms I've ever seen. At one place I thought I was in a walk-in
closet but it turned out to be the master bedroom! This week
I'm going to look at a renovated farm house near the French border.
Needless to say, so far I've experienced a combination of stress,
anticipation and awe. The weather has been exceptionally good
and the natives have welcomed me with open arms. I never learned
to speak German or Dutch, but maybe I'll do better with French.
Anyway, I'm sure I'm gonna love it here. The closest major city
is Brussels and since I have never been there, I'm wondering
if anyone out there can tell me some fun things to do there.
My auto is at a garage in Amsterdam being repaired because my
engine died on me when I was there a couple of weeks ago. It's
gonna cost 1800 Guilders for repair so I may have to let it sit
for a while! I won't be taking any vacation days until early
2002 so I'll only be able to do some short jaunts on weekends.
But Amsterdam is only 2-1/2 hours away so I'll still be able
to get there to meet anyone interested in hanging out with me
and doing some serious coffeeshop cruising and/or people watching
in our favorite town.
Glad that you are settling in. Brussels has lots of museums, great restaurants, and a lots of lace and chocolates. Be sure to take a day trip or weekend trip to Bruges when you get a chance. Lovely OLD town with great churches, canal boat rides, etc. Enjoy, bluz
