The Water Museum is the only museum in Portugal to have received the 1990 Museum of the Year Award awarded by the European Council, this institutions greatest award. Throughout the years this award has changed not only the life of the museum but mainly its social responsibility, but this premise was only integrated as a strategic communication axis in 1996. The Museums communication hinges on a static and dynamic dialectic. The former is due to physically existing in Portugal, in the city of Lisbon, and offering a set of four monuments, preserved and organized museologically, making up the Water Museum as a whole.
