a nice authentic houseboat in the centre
me and my girlfriend stayed in this hotel for 5 nights on the houseboat. our stay was excellent. unfortunately we had to stay in the modern boat instead of the more authentic boat, because it was already booked. but they offered a look. next time we will book that one. the walking distance to the centre is about 15 minutes. but we were lazy and took the bus that stops near the hotel. if you want to know anything, ask the hotel employees. they were very helpfull and kind.

nice quiet location
stayed 9 nights here and was very pleased. the bed was the single most comfortable bed i have ever slept in. sometimes didn't want to crawl out of it in the morning. location is close enough to get around easily, but away from the touristy area. clean and nice.

bliss and peace on a barge
we have stayed at the acacia for the last three years and each time have come back. if you want a break away from the hustle and bustle of downtown amsterdam this is the place for you and it is only a 15 minute walk to the centre. we stayed on the barge once and could only highly recommend it for that different away from home feeling. the 5% charge on credit cards is a bit much as who wants to carry that much money around in any city and i believe that the credit card companies say it is illegal! we are going back in september and have the barge for 4 days of bliss. one thing to remember is that they now have a minimum 3 day stay on the barges.

simple but clean and pleasant
a little out of the way but this lends itself well to a quiet time. the rooms arent the biggest but then nothing is that big in amsterdam. the beds on the other hand have to be the most comfortable things i've ever lay on. especially good if you have happened to had a good night in 1 of the many coffee shops this city has to offer. would i go back to acacia......hmmmm......yep i think i just might!! :p

lovely quiet location, comfortable room.
me & my partner stayed here in dec 2001 for 3 nights, our stay was very pleasant. the area was so quiet and peaceful, and only 15 mins from the city centre, the walk from the hotel to the city centre was really pleasant, crossing over all the canal's and exploring the little streets of the jordaan. the room did the job for us, the bed was unbelieveably soft!! the stairs were very steep, but aint that part of the amsterdam culture? we wouldn't have wanted it any other way! we will definately be staying there again. thank you hotel acacia for your hospitality.
