    Horrible staff

I hated this place every one was rude. We kept to ourselves and they still kicked us out for smoking cigarettes in wich none of our party of 3 smoked but yet at 6 30 am the following morning they told us to pack are stuff up and leave cause now supposobly they had evidence and complaints of smell coming from room wich in no way was us cause none of are 3 party smoke ciggs. So i give this place a 2 because the staff was rude, but the rooms were large and nice and relaxing

    clean & comfortable

my husband and i stayed at the nova the evening of november 30th. the room was large, beds comfortable and the bathroom very clean. i had asked for a room with a view, we got one alright, not a desirable one either! but since we were only staying one night, it was no big deal. the hotel's floor plan was somewhat odd, up and down stairs constantly. they have a lift? i sure didn't see one nor were we directed to one. our room was not in a very good location, could hear doors slamming left and right. but the people were friendly, the food was plentiful and we were able to keep our luggage locked up until it was time to leave. i believe it was worth the 95 euros for the evening.

very clean but overpriced and in a noisy area

i went to the nova hotel (based on your good reviews) during the ibc when all of amsterdam was booked out and was very happy accommodations at all, and delighted to have clean ones. however, the lift broke twice during my stay; i was on the 3rd floor and had to hand carry luggage down those incredibly steep stairs on the last day. and, as i had heard, the breakfast was pretty gruesome but i just ate out after the first morning. i give it two stars due to the pretty simple furnishings (felt carpets?). there were certainly no frills but that's okay. all in all, it's much better than some hotels i've seen in london and i would go back, if desperate again! thanks for your helpful inputs.

    a decent deal.

nov. 17, 2001- we arrived early and the room was not ready. we were able to leave our luggage there, locked up, until the room was ready. our room was large, clean, and in the front, above the lobby. the staff were nice and helpful. breakfast was good. i would send my friends to this hotel.

Not so bad. But the view?

I travelled with the former visitor and let me tell you...he hated it. Authough the location was great(It was a short walk to anywhere and had several coffee shops near by)he neglected to mention our room was in the back of the first floor and we were lucky to have a window overlooking the hallway. I found it cavernous and damp...add a fountain to the room and it could have been a theme room in the Sheraton. It rained our entire trip still I missed the quaint canal view found a block away. At least then I could tell the difference between day and night. All in all I think we'll try somewhere else next time.

Ok, Just got back. Hotel was comfortable in that the beds were great and bath was big with good shower. Breakfast was ok, usual stuff. Have had better. Location was good centrally located. Close to some decent restaurants, try the Dutch pub grub on block at left. Great greek food around corner. Staff was satisfactory. Didnt seeum much. A buzzer at door kept the riff raff out. Wait, I'm riff raff. Stay there if you want basic stuff. Very touristy. But good value.

Very Nice Room --Close to Trams, Kadinski, and Tweede Kamar

I stayed 4 nights in Nov. Nice room, pleasant staff, and great breakfast spread! Located right on a main tram line, it is easy to get to and away from. While I was there, the manager was taking bids on new carpeting, so the upgrades continue. I would strongly recommend this hotel if the RLD is not your main reason for visiting. There are great cafe's, coffeeshops, and a grocery store within several blocks. The Absinthe Night Bar is also just a short walk away. Have fun!!!

Very comfortable hotel that we recommend.

My wife and I enjoyed a three-night stay in late October. The reception staff all spoke very good English, were courteous and helpful. The room, facing inner hotel courtyard, was quiet, of a generous size, very clean and comfortable, had a good TV with satellite (BBC1/2 for UK viewers) plus 4 pay for view channels. On-suite bathroom was tops for cleanliness with plenty of very hot water. The Nova Hotel is located in an ideal position from where we walked everywhere. Breakfast was buffet style with unlimited supply of the usual continental fare eaten in a pleasant room. After booking out luggage could be stored in locked room for later collection. The only thing missing was a facility to make hot drinks in the room, having said that there was a vending machine somewhere and many cafes within a short stroll. All in all, recommendable.

    Very good

I stayed at the Nova with my daughter in July 1999. It really is in the centre and very peacefull. The room was lovely and clean, well decorated and the staff very pleasant. There was a huge choice for breakfast. I would certainly go back to this hotel if I went to Amsterdam again

    Very good indeed

I went in the Nova Hotel amsterdam in Febuary of the 1999, I was there with my girrlfriend, and I spent one of the beautiful holiday of ever. The hotel was really in the centre, near some great streets, Dam Square, Spuistraat, Spui, and so on. Really peacefull, very nice, the room was big and with all confort You should want to have to spend some nice days in Amsterdam. I'll be again in Amsterdam in November and next February, with my girlfriend and some friends, and we'll surely go there. Don't miss it! Ale!
