I stayed there in november 06. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The location is amazing. The hotel itself was beautifully quiet, the food was excellent and my guest didn't want to leave. Will definitely return.

puts the american hotel to shame
small but immaculate hotel near rijksmuseum and leidseplein. rooms are compact, but well appointed, and well designed, and a double-bed is indeed that, not just two singles pushed together. the bar has a small patio that you can sit outside in, and because it's a small hotel, there is enough room for a quiet drink without any noisy tourist-types. brekky is expensive, but it was excellent: any hotel that serves gouda with cummin seeds gets full marks; there are much cheaper alternatives, though. friendly, helpful foh staff, and a faultless room/maid service makes this the best value-for-money hotel we have ever stayed in in a'dam; the location is the icing on the cake!

spent 4 days (fri-tue) the first week in april. quiet location less the 5 minutes from the rijksmuseum and maybe 5 minutes from the leidesplein. i had a small 1 person room on the 1st floor. very quiet neighborhood. friendly staff. breakfast a bit on the expensive side but convenient and good variety (scrambled eggs/bacon/pastry/cheeses/cereal/juice). would go back again. got a good price through the internet.

i arrived at the jan luyken hotel after breaking my foot the night before(don't ask!). i spent 6 days there and unfortunately didn't leave the hotel much. the staff was wonderful. they brought up bags of ice, ran to the store to get medicine and even set up an appointment with a local doctor. the room was fantastic, very boutique and modern, while the common areas retain a feel from another era. my room was much larger than the average amsterdam hotel room. having sampled just about ever item from the room service menu and breakfast, i would recommend eating out. otherwise, this was as great a hotel experience as someone can have under the circumstances!

good location, friendly staff, very clean rooms and we will return.
i rate this hotel very highly due to friendly and helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms, big choice of breakfasts (and as much as you like). location is in a nice tree lined side street, so away from the noise of trams etc. but in a good spot for the major museums ( only 4 minutes from riyksmuseum and van gogh museum ) and yes i would return
