Average visitor rating (8.1 /10 )Write a review ![]() Great place - watch the rates! Wonderful place to stay and enjoy amsterdam. People pleasant, rooms nice, not great. Restaurants nearby etc just have to watch the rates and make sure you get the best possible - they seem to vary a lot and we got 'caught' ![]() first canadian review of toro we very much like this hotel. friendly staffs, clean public area, very nice buildings with ancient/classy furnitures. very relaxing. it is located right on vondelpark (you can have breakfast or a glass of wine on the terrace located at the back of the hotel, just beside the park's beautiful pond). don't be fooled by its location on a map; it's close to the action (15 min walking to museums area, 30-40 min to center which is nothing and gives you a chance to look the beautiful city) but far enough to get the quiet times necessary when you are there for a vacation. our room (#4 ground floor but not besides the elevator) was large and clean, beds were very comfortable double beds (eventhough it was considered a 'grandlit' which is misleading) and both had a very nice and comfy cot. our room was in the back with very large and high windows (lots of sun in the afternoon), high ceilings (16 foot at least), and we could hear the zillions of birds from the park. awsome! we got a fair price for the grandlit superior room, 131 euros, but you must add the 5% city tax. unfortunately, and that is why i gave 4 out of 5 stars, the breakfast was not included and costs 13 euros/p.p. nice complete breakfast but way too expensive i think. we had a very good breakfast for less than half that price elsewhere, near the museums. i should also mention that for those of you who are taking the connexxion airport shuttle that you can pick it up (or be dropped) in front of the ams hofpark hotel which is very close (5 min walk). finally, i strongly recommend this hotel and i only wish that breakfast was included in the price or be less expensive. ![]() my home away from home the toro is great. the staff is friendly and the location is great. i have stayed there three times now and have yet to be disappointed. the hotel is in a very nice part of town surrounded by freestanding houses and professional offices. the breakfast is the same everyday but who cares? soft boiled egg, meat; cereal, yogurt, and assorted fresh breads are a great way to start your fun. the price is very competitive for what you get. if this is your first time try the toro. ![]() American couple during an international tradeshow... We booked our stay with the Toro fairly late in the game, therefore our room was very small, upstairs. The room was however quite charming and very quiet. The maid let us view other rooms for our 'next' stay. Two very nice rooms with balconies overlooking the canal are #17 and #20, the two in between those are nice and large as well with great views of the canal. The staff was very professional, friendly and helpful. Although the free breakfast was included, it was the same every morning. We had our breakfast out a couple of times. The entrance of Vondelpark is just next to the Toro. It is a truly beautiful place, very peaceful. It is a nice walk, about a half mile to the city center. We enjoyed the whole experience and plan to stay there again next year. THis was my first time to Amsterdam, and Europe for that matter. There's also a great chocolate shop by the #2 tram by the Hotel, Art de Chocolate, I believe. It rained a few times, one day we stayed in our room and ate chocolate and drank wine! Just loved it. ![]() 4 stars very friendly athmosphere, quiet and clean. home away from home ..... 4 stars ! |
