a home away from home!
we are an american couple in our late 50s/early 60s. we have been going to the prinsen hotel for the last 10 years or so (at least once a year for a week to ten days). that, in itself, is a wonderful recommendation for the hotel. we have stayed in several other hotels but find the prinsen to be our favorite. this quaint, clean hotel has a friendly helpful staff. the locale although an extremely quiet residential neighborhood is within easy walking access (3-5 blocks) to movies, restaurants, museums, concert halls, shopping and one of the more lively squares in amsterdam(leidesplein).

simple but very good located hotel
I have been there in November for 2 nights. Its a nice old hotel, very clean rooms that have everything you need but nothing really luxurious... not much of a breakfast area tho, right next to the reception in the same area..and I missed a restaurant. The double beds are 2 singles next to eachother which isnt very handy (fell between the 2 beds one night) very nice people running the place and the hotel is situated very good! 3 minute walk from the Leidse Plein but in a very quiet and very beautiful street. I think its a little overprized but I guess that also has to do with the location. It does deserver more than 2 stars but 3... Id give it a 2,5 if that was possible.
