beautiful little hotel
i stayed here for one night way way back in july 2001 (whimper, things were so good back then) and i only stayed one night, the place was very accomodating and simply divine clean and pristine inside. the room was tiny as are all in ams and the breakfast >rocked<, buffet style. i was with a dutch friend, we smoked weed in the room too no probs, although i must say the tall man who works the front desk was far from 'nice' probably just had 'anti-american' syndrome like every other euro jumpin on that bandwagon, anyway was a great stay, i would reccomend although for the price you can find much cheaper for the same quality (try hotel barbacan around the corner or hotel de paris in leidsplein)

far from the maddening crowd!
i stayed here a few years back, and it was a superb value. easy to get to, and only a few minutes away from everything, yet worlds away from all the revelers on the main drag. peaceful, tranquil. one of the best holidays i have ever taken. we are returning to amsterdam in may 2003, and we will stay at the lancaster again.

just got back from having spent 5 nights in the lancaster. great place- couldnt believe it was our hotel when we walked in, considering how cheap it was! rooms are big and well laid out with really nice bathrooms. satellite tv was good with bbc- nice touch. the pay per movies(and porn) were good value aswell. get the tram 9 or 14 into centre of city- takes 3 mins. or it isnt too far to walk back drunk when the trams have stopped. apologies to the scousers in the room next to us- we were having a good time! great experience all round

good value & quiet
stayed here a few years ago, must say it was up there with the best places i stayed in when in amsterdam. the staff were very good, helpful and easy to talk to. they had a bar downstairs & the bartender was great. as we had only just arrived in town he filled us in on all the goings ons & where to go etc.the room we stayed in was big, which was suprising & not noisy.must recommend it to others!!

comfortable safe hotel.
I stayed for 5 days in nov. 2001. It was easy access to all parts of A-dam. Excellent breakfast, rooms, privacy, and security. I would recommend this hotel to all. Wish I were there now!

A little out of the way, by the Artis, quiet area. Safe place. decent breakfast. Have stayed twice and will be there in April for Qday. Run by Best Western, and there is also the Eden hotel on Amstel.
