excellent location, thin walls
the imp has an excellent location, with no cars allowed through the square, the only noise comes from the bars outside. but with good double-glazing these can only just be heard. steep stairs to the bedrooms may be a problem for some, and the walls did seem quite thin. all in all a really good hotel for easy access to museums, bars, resturaunts, shops and canal walks. and smokey's is only just around the corner.

lovely room and view, friendly staff.....great place to stay.
my husband and i stayed in the imperial just at the start of this year, from the 3rd of january to the 6th. we searched many websites for hotels and came across a craacker( as we say in scotland). the website is good as it shows you all the rooms they have to offer and is also very helpful if you need information about amsterdam in general. the room we stayed in was beautifuly decorated, very fresh and clean. the bathrooms also very bright, clean and well equipped and the jacuzzi shower was a great treat. lovely breakfast, ham, cheese, bread, cereal, coffee, tea, jam and fruit juce was served in the morning and just set you off for the day ahead. it is really central if you are going to take in museums and also for places to eat and drink. would recommend this hotel to anyone it was pleasure to stay there and we will again, hopefully soon. there website is, www.hotelimperialnl.com well worth a stay.

large, well-appointed room
my daughter and i stayed at the hotel imperial for 2 nights in early april, 2001. our room was large with 2 twin beds and a fold-up for a third person, if needed. there was a table and chairs, desk and armoire and enough space left to move around. the room was bright and well-decorated in yellow stripes and blue, pine furniture and flooring. very nice. it can be see on their website www.hotelimperialnl.com. the bathroom was clean and new, had an enclosed shower with good pressure and plenty of hot water. we were two flights up at the front of the building, but it rained so the 'lively' square below was quiet at night. only noise came in the morning when guests were descending the stairs to check out. desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. breakfast was the usual dutch affair. hotel was non-smoking which was ok with us. we would definitely stay there again.
