Average visitor rating  (5.4 /10 )Write a review Review by a Visitor  very unsatisfactory customer relations hotel would not adjust a new years reservation from five days to four, despite ten weeks' notice, and despite never mentioning anywhere in correspondence or webpages a 'length of stay' policy. customer's multiple polite efforts to resolve the problem met with obstinate refusal, and even with the absurd claim that the customer should've known the (unpublicized) policy. the hotel took this stand despite knowing that the customer was critically inconvenienced and was at risk of not locating other suitable accomodation. firmest caution is recommended to anyone considering a stay with this hotel. Review by roger  great place to stay !!!! i have been to the barbacan manny times and you feel realy at home. nice friedly staff clean rooms great breakfast. so if you are in amsterdam hotel barbacan is the place to stay!! roger Review by mr. kirkpatrick nice and affordable a nice, affordable place to stay. tiny singles, but comfortable. breakfast is very good, kindly served, and the staff are friendly. the neighborhood is really great. shared bathrooms are downright filthy, and should definitely be kept in better condition with daily cleaning! this, however, is my only large complaint. amsterdam accomodation is never worth what one pays, but barbacan closes the price/value gap about as well as any hotels in town do. i'll look to stay here again in the future. Review by kneel great little motel was cheap but doubled their price recently? i stayed here in 2001, and almost booked a week earlier this year and so i know the prices a few months ago and they were the same as a year or two ago, but all of a sudden, even in the low(cheaper) season, i noticed they doubled their price almost!!! like a double room with pric. shower and toilet used to be 48 eu per night and now its freakin 89 eu per night! i know its still cheap but it was only a 2 or 3 star motel, i loved the family atmosphere and nice cleaning lady who cooked breakfast (awesome breakfast here btw) every morning.... but it was small and ... well, lets say very hunble... however it was clean and i liked it and i think it was well worth the $$ but damn they wennt and jacked their prices up a ton. for some reason the older bookings.nl page is still online with the old prices, yet still says for late 2003 and early 2004 for the descriptions so i know it is fairly new and still this season's prices, they must've just up and out of nowhere bumped up everything to almost double the price (??wtf?) heres the new regular one: http://www.bookings.nl/barbacan.nl.en.html and the cheaper one when clicked thru the 'walkthrough' map of amsterdam on channels.nl: http://www.channels.nl/cgi-bin/pagatoz.cgi?framed=http://www.bookings.nl/hotels/barbacan?id=200006 Review by Adolfo from Spain  Tramquilo El hotel esta bien situado en una zona centrica relativamente y tramquila... Todo esta bien menos los servicios nosotros teniamos uno individual y olia a rayos asi que ivamos al del pasillo que era compartido que olia un "poquito" mejor por lo demas los desayunos eran buenos el trato tambien, limpiaban a menudo... Si vuelvo a amsterdam con amigos ire al barbacan pero solo con amigos sino no... |
