    Loud, no airconditioning, not safe

We stayed at this hotel with my husband during june 2007 the room had no air conditioning, the evening staff had no idea where the nearest car rental place was and he also said they all closed at 6pm. ( the nearest one was actually around the corner open til 8pm and the airport one until 11pm. - all info we found out on our own. One morning the front desk guy and my husband both locked themselves out of the hotel and i had to go down at 6 am to let them in. oh, and within 10 min of returning from touring our rental was broken into- parked right outside the front doors. construction on the building next door started at 730am, and the scafolding went right up the side to our window, so you could not leave it open for fear someone could potentially climb up and take things from your room. don't plan on going any time soon. Wait till construction is done, and don't rent a car, ask for a room on the top floor, and be prepared to get around on info you find on your own, because once the morning girls go home, the 1 evening staff member ( yes 1- for the whole hotel) really takes no initiative to help or offer any assistance. Good luck. By the way if you do rent a car - get full insurance and be prepared to pay "3.60" euro per hour to park the car on the street of the hotel.

magical, classy and first rate in every way imaginable

listen to me. this place is just unbelievable. i cannot say enough complement this hotel. i'm staying here right now and writing this review from the hotel lobby. brand new impeccable decor, spacious clean room with hot shower and stunning, and i mean stunningly beautiful women! i think i'm in love! i found this place the other morning after staying three nights in a real dive near red light district. the lovely anna, who is like a princess from some magical land, welcomed me with open arms. i didn't know if i could financially afford this place judgeing by the luxury decor upon entering. when she told me the price i nearly fell over with delight. she even escorted me to my double rooms. only $75 euro per night for the best hotel i've ever seen in my life! bartenders were friendly and helpful and the staff is great! go to their web site. see the blonde girl on the bed? she actually works here and is an absolute delight! do yourself a favor and stay here when visiting 'the dam'

great hotel, great staff, great location

me and a buddy stayed there twice (11/02 & 8/03) for a week each time. the staff is great (the females are gorgeous)and very friendly. they didn't laugh at stupid american questions and went out of their way to make us feel at home, not only at the hotel but in the city as well. located near just about anything you would want to find in ams, but still in a quiet neighborhood. five of us are planning to go in 11/04 and the piet hein is where we'll be. the only negative thing i can say is that they don't have ice buckets, they come in handy for a cold soda after a late night.

    you can't 'piet' it!

stayed there in feb. 2003 in a clean, spacious and modern room which had a good view over vondelpark. in a nice neighbourhood - handy for the heineken experience, the museums, van gogh, the albert cuyp market, etc - all within walking distance. designer labels abound in pc hoofstraat which runs parallel, just one street behind if you fancy purchasing some gucci, dahling! leidseplein not too far - roughly 10 mins or so stroll, with the centre about another 10 or so mins from there (plenty trams from leiseplein too though). breakfast was served until a reasonable hour (can't remember exactly what time) and the usual continental style which was fine. there was a small bar in the hotel which we didn't use but was usually reasonably busy. there's no other bars or nightlife immediately outside the hotel - the nearest was leidseplein.

i stayed at the piet hein for two nights. i found the staff very friendly and helpful. the hotel's location is great - close enough to walk to the city's attractions, but in a quiet neighborhood. the price was very reasonable.

    neat, clean and friendly

Just back from Amsterdam. Three of us stayed at this hotel for 4 days in a triple bedroom. The room was spacious, clean and had a balcony, but due to the weather, we couldn't use it (very cold and wintery). There was a private bathroom with shower which was cleaned each day and fresh towels placed every day also. Has TV, incl MTV and Pay per view Channels @ú6/24 hours, telephone but no tea or coffee making facilities. (We could have done with these the morning after the night before). No problems comming and going as you please, at any time day or night and they don't mind you smoking in the rooms.

relaxing, conveinent, well.located and the price was right

well me and my cousin mark stayed there half way through oct 2ooo.believe me it was more then pleasant.the staff was all there and more then willing to help out with anything we had to ask or needed information on.actually they even knocked off 30 gilders a night cause we were in a bi t of a slump.the location was phenomanael.located in perfect range to places you had to go.very classy rooms, showers, toilets and on top of that the free breakfeast was a flowering treat.absolutely delicious.it felt like an exclusive marriot only with about 300 gilders left in your pocket each day.i,ll give her 5 star.i only wish i would have booked.cause she was all reserved so we had to leave after 6 days.it was off to hotel cynthia...gross...cynthia sucked..

    Wonderful week in Amsterdam

In May of 1999, my wife and I spent a wonderful week in Amsterdam. Staying at Piet Hein was excellent . . . conviently located within walking distance of nearly everything. The view of the park was great and the staff was friendly and helpful. They handled all of our inquiries courteously, without hesitation and pointed us in the right direction for our wanderings. We plan to stay there again when we are next in Amsterdam.
