An amsterdam gem
I have stayed here several times and it seems to be better each time. I second the reviews already here. Such a unique experience not available from a conventional hotel. The host family are so knowledeable about the city and especially new exhibits and visiting exhibits at musuems. I would never have known about the grolsh brewery exhibit only there for a few months. A very interesting afternooon spent learning about beer and beers included at the end. Better than the heinekin experience. You will be the only tourists around so get a true locals experience. Very good shops and restaurants are a short walk. Minutes to any area of the city by public transport. This is a great value for the rate.

A good place to stay!
On our roundtrip this summer through holland we had a very nice experience staying on this houseboat in amsterdam. The hosts liesbeth, fred and their children are very helpfull and make you feel really at home. The houseboat is cosy and has much space. We enjoyed all nice restaurant in the westerpark, almost nextdoor. The houseboat has a good busconnection to the jordan-area and the citycentre. it was an enjoyable stay. We recommend it.

Home from home !
Our stay in this houseboat was perfect ! it was like home from home, quiet and cozy, although it was very near to the lively city centre. Good and frequent public transport. it was everything we imagined it to be - there were very comfortable beds, a hot shower, good heating, a well equipped kitchen, charming hosts, beautiful views over the canal. all amenities are close by. We will definitively be back !

Comfortable, fully equipped, quiet neighborhood
The boat has a bedroom for two, a living/bed room for two, a galley kitchen, and a three-quarter bathroom. The owners live next door and are friendly and helpful. Neat, clean, and quiet, this is appropriate for families or singles who want to relax and enjoy their surroundings. A short walk takes you to dutch and turkish bakeries with sweet and non-sweet delicacies (such as cheese crisps or veggie-stuffed breads) and a fish store (of course; this is amsterdam) as well as a major supermarket, greengrocers, and a well-stocked bookstore. Nearby public transport makes getting around the city and surrounding areas quick and easy.

My favorite place to stay in amsterdam
I have stayed in hotels all over the city of amsterdam over the last dozen or so years but my favorite place to stay is houseboat under the mill. I always hesitated to stay on a houseboat because they seemed to have little privacy and you were right on the street. But this boat is unique. Tied up behind the owners new split level boat, their original home has the privacy and peace and quiet that i seek while on vacation. It is located at the end of a quiet canal that gets no boat traffic and is a houseboat community. The owners are great hosts and are a wealth of information about the city. Bus and tram stops are a short walk as are shops, restaurants and albert hein. If you are driving they even have an extra parking space available. I will never stay in a hotel again when i can have a floating apartment for about the same price. With a kitchen and nice living room/dining room eating in is an option that can save money and make for some interesting meals. I found the furnishings comfortable and i like the unlimited hot water for a nice long shower. You also are in control of the heat. I usually go in the fall or winter when that can be important. The boat stays cozily warm and heats up quickly due to the hot water heating system. And a windmill is right there!

Tolles hausboot !

... Besonders ins "houseboat under the mill"! 50m direkt neben einer holländischen windmühle übernachteten wir im gästehausboot von fam. Brinkhoff. Herz, was willst du mehr.
