    swissotel nice and centrally located

my husband and i stayed 5 nights and had a great room with king bed. very clean, great service and staff, great location. there is lots of noise from the street, but quieted down after 11pm. very comfortable....would recommend.

    location, location, location

the wife and i spent 3 nights here in early sept. we had one of the 'superior' rooms. it was overlooking the inner courtyard so no view per se. very large bathroom with tub and separate shower. the king size bed was actually 2 beds pushed together. the window opened fully so had no problem smoking in the hotel. didn't try the hotel breakfast as it was very expensive but there are plenty of other options nearby. located on damrak right around the corner from dam square so everything is very close. summer construction was almost completed but didn't bother us a bit. would definitely stay again but swissotel is a bit on the high side pricewise.

i like this hotel. it's convenient, a short stroll from centraal station and is right on dam square. shows good porn too.

    had a great room

had a room for 3 (1 child) which was fantastic - big and with a tall cathedral roof. bathroom was lovely - also a complimentary bottle of water on a couple of days. nice bar and the staff were extremely nice and helpful. only drawback - could hear quite a lot of noise from the street. would definitely go again

    very very small rooms...

our room was so small the two of us we're tripping over each other. we requested another room (since we reserved a superior room) and it was equally as small. the room was so bad, we checked out the next day and stayed at the mariott. our experience there great...better location and large room. i do not recommend the swissotel at all.

expensive, but the suite was nice

we stayed at this place over a weekend in may and were pretty pleased, although it was quite pricy (nearly $350 a night). the suite was spacious and very clean and the staff was pleasent and inobtrusive. the location right on dam square is hard to beat. i probably wouldn't stay here again however, simply because it's so expensive.

the suites are sweet but other rooms are small

i've had both small rack rooms and killer suites at the swissotel. make sure to get a suite...dam square view...lots of wood, glass and chrome. small balconies make a great morning/late night perch for people watching...robe and slippers...newspaper...snacks of fruit & chocolates...'free' mini-toblerones...the list goes on. however the dam can be loud at night.....trams, drunks, taxis... if you have the means...or for a special it....but don't get a rack friend is still mad about the time we was a smaaaaallll double.

    expensive for what it is

having paid 8000 belgian francs for a room without breakfast i expected at least to have a view but no, the only window faced a concrete wall. the lobby and the corridors reminded me of a glorified ibis hotel. bathroom had liquid soap, shampoo and lotion dispenser in the shower which came crashing down on the first night. little asian man knocked on the door offering a turn down service which is quite confusing when you are blown out of your mind. he gave us a toblerone i slammed the door as i didn't want to find out what else he had to offer. great beds.
