Average visitor rating (9 /10 )Write a review ![]() Sofitel the grand, luxury & excellent service Sofitel the grand has got everything you can imagine for a 5 star hotel! it's a great building, it's got classy, stylish rooms and it is located in the historical centre of amsterdam. Great french cuisine. Nice decoration everywhere! the rooms are spacious and there are lots of opportunities in the hotel to relax (fitness, spa, swimming pool). ![]() Amazing hotel, location and overall experience We stayed at the grand in 1998 and then back in 2000. it's a beautiful hotel, close to most of amsterdam cool places. There's nowhere better really! the first time we were there, we were in a big group and being from canada, we were very surprised by the gorgeous canadian flag the staff made in the front garden, all with tulips (red and white). Great service, great atmosphere and an amazing overall experience. ![]() the best hotel staff in all my travels i have yet encountered a staff as friendly and effecent as the staff at the grand. the room was big and the beds were very nice. i felt like i had my own spa because everytime i went to the pool/spa it was always empty. the only negitive things about my stay were that the shower was very hard to use and the in-room broadband was 25 euros a day. so i used the free internet access in the business center. if i could afford it...i'd stay at the grand again ![]() great hotel romantic, relaxed, yet elegant. i agree with the first guy. this place is beautiful and worth the trip. great location right behind dam square, and situated around a courtyard, so the rooms are all private and quiet. i'd return. watch out for the prices though. not a cheap place. ![]() classy, casual, HUGELY expensive, a special occasion place OK - I organise conferences for a living and have stayed in some pretty crap 5 start hotels but the GRAND is definitely a class apart. Perfect location, quiet streets all around, a nice cosy bar, excellent but just EXCELLENT French restaurant (veggies beware, limited choice but meat eaters will be in heaven), and friendly staff. Don't feel you have to dress up for this place (although they appreciate it in the restaurant) - it's the epitome of relaxed class. Rooms are classically furnished with the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. One very small downside - don't order a full English breakfast on room service, eat it in the restaurant. But then that's advice I could give for any hotel in Europe... |
