pros and cons at the luxer

stayed at the luxer at a very reasonable price of €180 for 3 nights monday to friday at end of march 2006. pros: fantastic location and friendly staff at reception with a working lift. rooms and hotel were kept clean and in good state of repair. breakfast was ok with a cold buffet of usual ams fare allowing you to eat and drink as much as you want/need. cons: double room had 'swimming pool' type shower that was next to useless for all over washing. room had terrible noise from plumbing with a strange/very loud 'popping/whooshing' noise occuring all times of day and night. also, i have had after dinner mints that were thicker than the one pillow provided. all in all i wouldn't go back purely because the shower was useless. i was glad to get home for a bath!

    hotel luxer

brilliant hotel for rld and bars. right on edge on the rld. would not recommend hotel for women or families as its in a very rough part of amsterdam and can be troublesome at night, lots of heroin addicts harrassing people.

    great hotel

i stayed there feb 2005 and was very happy with the luxer. the hotel was clean and the staff both helpful and friendly. we rented a triple room for 100 euro per night off the internet, the listed price was 180 euro per night. a good but basic breakfast was served and the hotel had a fully functional modern lift. the most surprising thing was the size of the modern bathroom, it was almost the size of some of the smaller hotel rooms i have seen elsewhere. the hotel is also smoker friendly, just don't set the smoke alarm off. all in all the best hotel i have ever stayed at in amsterdam and i highly recommend the luxer. 3 minute walk from central station, hunters coffeeshop is just a few doors down.

probably the best 3 star............. in amsterdam!!

beyond all expectations, the luxer really impressed me. stayed there for 3 nights (2nd - 4th june 2004) and the only downside, was having to move on to another hotel (hotel was booked solid for the weekend, when i made my booking, so had to move on). friendly staff who went out of their way to help, good size room, which was cleaned along with the linen & towels which were also changed every mourning. oh and god bless this place, it had a modern, fully funchable lift. breakfast was your typical dutch affair (tea, coffee, breads, cake, rolls, boiled egg, cheese & cold ham/meat) but was plentiful and a pleasant change from my usual fry-up back home. the hotel is in a great location, less than 5 minutes walk from centraal station. would recommend the luxer to both singles as well as couples.

    pretty good!

we stayed there for 9 nights from april 28 to may 7. the lication is convenient, very near the central station. we like the staff there. they were friendly and helpful. we especially enjoyed the breakfast; they make wonderful coffee. the room are not big but there's enough space for us and our two big luggage. according to the book. it's in the red light district, but expect for some 'coffee shops', we didn't feel noisy or chaotic around the streets there. if you are not looking for a fancy hotel and need a clean and convenient place to stay, i'd definitely recommend this place.

    great hotel fantastic location

we stayed at the hotel luxer, in march 2004 (four nights). hotel is clean, quite, and has a great location, just about everything in the hotel is new, including the lift, rooms are spotless, and towels are issued daily. plenty of piping hot water in the bathroom. hotel staff are friendly and courteous, breakfast items were limited to juice, cereals, bread, cheese, ham, madera cake, hard boiled eggs, tea and coffee, everything was freshly prepared. we would defiantly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quality 3 star hotel, in amsterdam. we have rebooked for september.

    great location,

first the negatives: you can hear all the doors on your floor slamming shut, and the walls in rm 104 could use a coat of paint. the building across the alley to the north has a club that plays music (live and dj) late on fri and sat nights, but it wasn't loud enough to keep me awake with the window closed, and i was probably less than 10 meters from the club's back door which was propped open. ask for a room on the south side of the building or higher up if you're a light sleeper. the positives: secure entry, with staff at the front desk 24/7, spotlessly clean modern bathroom, 24 hour lift, comfy beds, plenty of hot water. the twin room was much larger than i expected, with a writing desk and small closet for bags and hanging clothes, but bring some hangers. the location really is fantastic, an easy walk with rolling luggage from centraal station and other nice amenities less than a block away: 24hr internet 4 doors down, laundry service 3 doors down, great chinese food, shoarma sandwiches and pastries less than 100 meters away. yes, the breakfast is basic (bread, cheese, sliced meats, fruit, cereal, juice, hard-boiled eggs, but plentiful and included in the room rate. i paid €70 during the week, €100 fri/sat. in late feb. staff was helpful and pleasant, fulfilling requests for extra towels or pillows quickly and with no fuss. great bar/lounge area open 24 hours. check out their website, the pictures don't lie.

    close to rld

friendly staff, stayed in small but clean room, new towels each day. breakfast was fresh and plentiful, meat, cheese cereal juice. noisy at night, you can here all doors closing and toilets flushing. clientele were a mixture of ages. five mins walk from the station and 1 min from the rld.
