Central, friendly and great value
Have just returned from amsterdam this weekend. I had previously stayed in a number of other hotels over the years. The terminus was not my first choice of hotel but as luck would have it, it proved to be a fortuitis choice. We were made welcome from the time we arrived until we left. Reception staff were polite, informative and helpful. Domestic staff were friendly and non intrusive. The breakfast was probably the best i ve had in amsterdam. From hot food to meats, cheeses, fruit cereal etc. Faultless. the room we were in was a bit small, but hey, who stays in the room in adam. We were expecting a noisy time, being so close to the red light district and churches. Didnt happen. The bells added to the occasion. (stoned). Location, 5 minutes walk from central station... Coffeeshop, pub, restaurants and rdl all within a minutes walk. What more do you need. all in all great value. Will be returning again...

go home american
the rooms were just ok for the price. being american is the main problem here as we felt unwelcome.the maids were nice, but front desk and bar help made a point to be rude and or cough when you turned around. (whatever that means?) go elsewhere, preferably in europe!

great value, great location
read some of the reviews and can't believe its the same place....had a room on the beurrstraat side at street level. well u can call it that i spose the windows opened at about 1ft above the outside pavement and at about 6ft inside the room lol.... all the same there was very little noise other than yr usual revellers stumblin home and those damn bells lol have to agree after a bit they do sound like eastenders. found the place very clean and comfortable especially when compared to some of the other places i have stayed in the dam. what can i say ideally located for the rld and singel, easy to get to museums and cultural stuff too cant recomend highly enuff

great stay in a good hotel
stayed here during september 2003. the rooms we stayed in were on the large side and all were clean. the bathrooms were excellent and although this wasn't the best hotel we have ever stayed in it was better than i imagined after reading some of the previous reviews. it was noisey and you could hear all goings on in the street below but this was outweighed by the friendly welcome and the good rooms. i would not hesitate to stay here again, by the way rooms 409 and 410 were excellent.

warm, comfortable, ideal for a weekend.
stayed in the terminus a couple of times. quite nice and comfortable, location is great. yeah it's a bit noisy, but it's a stumble from the red light and my favourite coffee shop de kuil is just over the road(damrak). used to stay in the delta until it was taken over by arab crooks who rip you off the second you walk through the door. even if you're desperate, do not stay in the delta hotel on damrak! by comparison the terminus is a respectable, professionally run outfit and is a perfect place to stay if you're looking for a comfortable place to kip! plus, if you've sampled enough of the local delicacies, ideally from de kuil in oudebrugsteeg, them bells start sounding like the theme from eastenders!

spent a week in may 2003 and enjoyed a superior room. while the old chruch bell rings on occasion, every 15 minutes or so, it seems to quiet down at night. staff was friendly and efficient. location was close to centraal station, trams and rld but quiet on the side we stayed. the bath tub was the best of any hotel i have stayed in. hope to visit again.

a very good location
if you wish to visit the rld and be in a hotel a mere two minutes walk from the station then you can do no better than the terminus. it is noisy, the staff are not rude, if you want quiet then may i suggest you do your homework and go further out into the quieter areas of holland.

awful, noisy, smelly in middle of red light district!
my two friends and i staryed at this hotel for two nights (long enough) we were on the ground floor and had our own window overlooking the rdl, it was noisy and we could clearly hear everything that was said as 'customers' left the booths! as we were a party of three females it was most unpleasant and noisy!! the whole hotel needs a complete refurshibment and should check their advertising as the brochure of the hotel shows a picture of a very grand building opposite!! do not stay there if you want to sleep at night or feel safe.

i've stayed there twice. the service wasn't great. in fact, the man at the reception desk was quite rude on our first visit. however, this was offset by the large, clean rooms. the location is excellent as well.

first rate accommadtion
we have arrived home and are absolutely exhausted, my wife, karen and i had an excellent time. this was not only because amsterdam is our favourite city but because the accommodation was first class. the gentlemen on reception were all very pleasant, the room (11)was fantastic, very clean and well equipped with a beautiful bathroom. the breakfast was very nice, however it was a little busy, but this was to be expected on such a busy weekend (amsterdam marathon).the location of 'the terminus' is first rate,in fact,if you wanted a centrally located hotel you could not choose a better one. we will be visiting amsterdam every year and would hope to stay at your hotel every time. we will definitely be recommending it to all our friends and colleagues.

i was pleased with my 7 day stay at this hotel.we paid $100 a night fo a 3 person room in march,my only complaint is that they forgot all about the 3 person room but as soon as i showed them the e-mail conformation i printed up there was no problem.this place is very close to some good coffeeshops behind it on warmoestraat and a short walk down damrak to dam square.the night guy was very helpful with certain things we wanted to find without judging us.i would stay here again.didnt ask but had no problem smoking here.

a step above a hostel
if you want to be very near the rld (red light district)this place is perfect. the people were nice enough and the hotel was nice enough. my room was very large witha safe and mini bar and the tv had great channels. the big draw back? well my room was on the first floor with two big windows looking right at the old church so that when the shades were open i felt like i was in a rld window. also, it was very noisy although that did not really bother me. looking for a hotel a step above a hostel right in the rld with large rooms? then this is a good bet for you!

Worn out, but ok
I spent a weekend there in March 2001, and got the room through VVV, when everything seemed to be sold out for the weekend. I found the place run down. My room, a one-person double for 240 nlg weekend rate, was in need of a paint job. The bathroom was on the large side, by dutch standards, but the lighting was awful. The staff seemed uptight, arrogant, and gave me the feeling they were doing me a big favor, especially the tall ice cold blond guy at the front reception. I would not make reservations here again... there are better places for the money in town. But I would stay there again if it were a last resort hotel.

Noise, Noise, Noise!
If you plan on sleeping at all at night do not stay at this hotel. There is a clock tower that chimes every thirty minutes right next to the hotel. Also, being next to the rld does not help with the noise pollution. People are coming and going all night. Great place if you are going to be up all night and want a simple room with no frills.

The room was good, the service was bad!
I made the decision to upgrade to The Terminus and was very disappointed. The room itself was large and clean, but the door stuck. The next day we were made aware of what happens when you have to bump a stuck door, it fell off the wall. We were gone when it happened, so they moved all out things to the next room. The original room had a safe, the new one didn't. When I brought our things to the the desk, they charged me for using the safe! The last day when we were off to the airport, we noticed all our collected literature was gone (maps, pamphlets etc.), along with the book I was reading on the plane. You learn how good the hotel management is when things go wrong. The staff at The Terminus was completely unable to handle the slightest problem, from the stuck door to the safe to the move to the next room. However, I must commend the carpenter who fixed the door, he was helpful and cheerful.

We stayed here for 4 nights. Although it's near the red light area, just pay attention and take care of yourself, everything is OK. What impressed us the most is the bed is very comfortable. Room is big and looks pretty new with white color and warm. And they even have a small bar in the lobby, so that you can watch football games there to spend your longsome night. People are nice. We're satisfied with it.

great location, good hotel
I stayed here for a week. It is located between Warmoestraat and Damrak just 2 blocks from Centraal Station. The room was comfortable and the hotel provided all services that would be expected of a 3star. Some people didn't like that there was no airconditioning, but it is not really necessary in Amsterdam and the windows open.
