Review by a Visitor a pox on the kras for letting this go offline this was one of my favorite places to go on the web. i went there every day when i could to see what was going on on the other side of the world. even when it was out of focus, it was great to see adam. on my last visit in nov. 02, i even went as far as to tell the doorman at the kras that i, speaking on behalf of thousands worldwide, appreciated the cam dam. he was thankful, and shooed me on my way. i wish i had their e-mail address. (thx to this review, i updated the link, good view now, the webmaster) while trying to view the blurry dam cam, i clicked on the link for the golden tulip grand hotel krasnapolsky, right beneath the picture, and they have a link to their web camera and the view is in focus! it's beautiful! :-) (3 weeks/6 days and counting!) Review by lasthamlet indeed we miss the clarity of good focus. yes it did used to be clearer. i have a pretty good foto of my wife and i, printed off the web from the office back home. we were standing on the white riser wall attached to the back of the statue of love. that was last sept. 2001. it has lost its focus a bit, we still know what we are gazing and wishing upon. still it would be better for those who have not been, to have a clearer picture of this wonderful enigma. we love you amsterdam, from those of us who enjoy the peaceful nature of your city. and the wonderful sights and awesome museums, and well, the coffeeshops. okay, i am easy to read... 51 days from today, a-dam we shall meet again. Review by lasthamlet puh lease, puh lease !!! i just had to respond to the negativity in the below review. first things first- it is not so much the web-cam itself, it is what it is focused upon. it is the dam, true not the best area of amsterdam, but that isn't the point. it is a view of heaven. a real haven from senseless laws, that have no place in modern history. imagine if you can, all this to do over a plant. a creation of god. sure he didn't directly say to smoke it but, if gives one a peaceful nature and relaxes one in the evening after a long day at the grind. then what other than the name of money, are we so dead set against it for??? no one that wrote a review of this web-cam, has any money invested in it. we just seem to have time invested in getting just a glimpse of the haven we love to visit so much. you must understand from the typical american public viewpoint, who may have never been to a-dam. this place is an illussion. to those of us who have seen the true light of day, it is a reality. a reality we only get to vacation in, nevertheless it is real. so, my point is to have a camera focused on an illussion, is truely a wonderful thing. especially if you have been to that illussion, and know it to be indeed what it is. simply put--- 'freedom' Review by blazer i love the cam dam 30 days and counting...can't wait till i'm standing in dam square! Review by mattman it's a lovely view of heaven i love being able to peek in on the heart of the one of the most beautiful cities on earth. this cam helps one to relive some of the magic moments in this heaven on earth. i plan to have my friends look in on me via this wonderful device while i am there in feb. Review by lasthamlet a view of heaven. without a doubt this is the place i love. a closer place to heaven does not exist. i was there sept. 2001. i flashed a company banner and it was printed out at our office in greensboro, nc. the very minute it happened. so, i can personally say that this camera is real and does show the daily minutes of the area of the dam. i look sometimes and see 2 of the street peddlers who approached me several times. i reccommend that you do as i did and say no thanks. if there is anything you want that is not in the shops, maybe you don't need it. Review by hankeuno cam at the dam i look in on life at the dam regularly just to refresh my fond memmories of my visits to amsterdam. my wife and i have stayed right down the street at the nadia in 2001, on the keizersgracht. i hope the camera continues well into the future, it's part of my life. Review by henrik nelson brings back memories awesome web cam... just makes me wanna return to ams. my first visit to dam sq. was in march of 1997 -- when they were remodeling that white monument in front of the krasnapolsky. in fact, we were staying at the kras. hotel. what a nice place! this july, we were back in amsterdam and stayed in hotel pulitzer... on prinsengracht canal (sorry, i can't spell these dutch names). ahh...watching those trolley buses and people go by just make me long to get back there. i'll never forget how we literally 'stumbled' accross the red light district behind the krasnapolsky hotel. memories... Review by a Visitor god i love amsterdam i wish i was back there now. the dam looks so nice. i was there when it was under construction back in november of 2000. stayed in a hotel cordial right down the road on rokin. what an awesome place the netherlands are. i will be back soon one day!!! Review by fallen_buddha dam cam rocks oh how i love to sit and watch the people walk through the dam, it brings back such wonderful memories. i can see the spot where i stood on new years eve, damn i wish i was there now. it is a lovely view of the palace, and the niewe kerk. thank you for setting this up, so i can sit back and see the spot where this wonderful town began. Review by david keeping an eye on amsterdam one of the best ideas around. it's great to be able to keep an eye on the place i love. you can see the people, the trams and the weather all at the same time. no matter where you are in the world you can still see amsterdam. it's nice to see all the building work has now been completed. seeing all this just makes me want to book my next holiday there. perhaps i'll see you when i come over next.
