winstons - dirty and smelly
we have stayed at winstons on a couple of occassions and it is getting worse. constant smell of drains and the toilet in the bar absolutely stinks. the rooms are cold and not very clean. the whole concept of the hotel is great but unfortunately time has taken its toll on this place and it needs a total overhaul.

a very loud introduction to amsterdam
if you are coming to amsterdam for a 'stag or hen night' and you are going to be up all night, and won't require much sleep, this is the place for you. if however you are looking for a clean, quiet room with good facilities on a budget, look elsewhere. i only stayed one night and even with earplugs in, did not get much sleep. paper-thin walls describes it well. it is a shame, because the rooms are interesting and the concept good, but in terms of a good hotel - it is not what i would recommend.

All that glitters is not gold
Don't let the Winston's flashy web site fool you. The rooms are very small and not very warm. The place is so noisy. Either bring some ear plugs or smoke a ton of dope to get to sleep. The breakfast buffet was the only nice thing about this place. If you are only planning on spending one night in the Red Light District this place might be okay, but don't stay here if you are planning on being in Amsterdam for more than one night. There are several inexpensive hotels with TV and breakfast on Raadhuisstraat and Overtoom that I would suggest over the Winston any day.

exciting rooms in an interesting location
If you stay here you must stay in one of the themed rooms at no extra cost.I booked 4 rooms for nine lads on a stag weekend in May with no problems. The reception was open 24hrs with helpful and friendly advise from the best coffee shops to best red lights. The breakfast was excellent and as much as you can eat.

We (three of us)went in march of '98. they were renovating the place and we awoke every morning @7:00am to hammering and drilling and other god awful noises. The front desk, Sasha, was completely unsympathetic to our complaints. The rooms were very small which we anticipated but clean. To top everything off someone - maid or someone with a key - stole 100 pounds and $100. I would never stay there or recommend it to anyone.

Club Vegas on Sunday is like an out-of-body experience!
It's a must to have been to Club Vegas. It's hard to describe what it's like. There are no 'normal' people present, which means everybody is their true self. (normal people tend to hide that). Be sure to dress up in the most extravagant way you can imagine. Really, anything goes.
