Freshest Thai Food going in the Red Light

Well we were back in the RLD, so we stopped in for lunch at Saow Thai. The kitchen had just opened, and we were the first customers, so the food took an extrodinarily long time to come out. Others who came in after us, did'nt have a problem, so I am not going to bash them on it. The food was just as exceptional as in Oct. The Sate is vibrant and complex, the chicken soup with coconut mike was livley and smooth. We had chicked with 1 star Red Curry and Beef with 2 star Green Curry. The Chicken benefited well from the braising, unfortunately the beef became a little tough. Stick with the Chicken, Shrimp, or Pork for the Curries. Both were made fresh and had the right amount of heat as indicated on the menus. They do take their stars seriously, so be forwarned. they will take it down or crank it up as you request, the place is clean, open, and friendly. Lunch with soups, starters, and mains for 2 was 99fl. Stop by and give 'em a shot.

Thai Cafe, Restaurant, and Cabaret located on the edge of the Red Light

We stopped in at Saow Thai one rainy friday afternoon for lunch. The staff was exceptionally friendly and courteous. The soups were outstanding, a mild creamy shrimp soup for the wife who was doing battle with a cold, and a spicy chicken soup for me. We had appetisers of chicken satay, and spring rolls which were equally executed. For main courses we had shrimp in red curry and coconut milk, and chicken with thai basil and ginger. The shrimp were awsome (after lopping of their heads)the curry suace made for excellent drowning of the sticky rice, the chicken was a little less spectacular, but very flavorful and very very spicy. This is a place where you should definitely respect the chili markings on the menu, they can make the items more or less spicy according to your tastes, We happen to like them more hot than not...we were very satisfied. All this with drinks and coffee for 99fl. At night (possibly only on weekends-not sure about it) the place gets down and lively with a floor show. Great place.
