Average user rating ![]() Write a new review ![]() the sage was great and the staff and other customers were entertaining. the staff and customers were characters. quite a bit of fun on a monday morning. i'm an veteran smoker and usually stick the haze strains as i like that strong trippy high. still the sage i purchased here had me all giggley like i hadn't smoked in a while, and i smoke every day. i was impressed especially after hitting a dozen of the other top shops and not finding the quality. it all seems hit or miss when looking for good haze, but the greenhouse has consistantly came through for me. ![]() value for money i stayed in the green house effect in oct 05 this is the best place in i have stayed in for the money and i have vested amsterdam four times before. the place is bang in the middle of the red light distract. some of the staff are ok but one was rude in the coffee shop. there's discount on the weed if you show your key, space cakes and a bar next door. the free breakfast is well good and the mini bar in the room is good also but expensive but you can replace it each morning saving you money ( but donæt let them know ) . ![]() whats with the attitude!? we stayed in the 'china town'room that just happened to be a mile away from the hotel...funny how they didnt mention that on the website. also you know that thing called service, well apparently they dont... whats with the no housekeeping? that in itself, wasnt so bad but rudeness doesnt even come close to what we copped from the barbitch/receptionist on several seperate occasions. amsterdam was the best ever, but i wouldnt recommend this place to an enemy... ![]() good location, close to our hotel. the dealer was cool, we tried the top himalayan hash and northern lights. the lights were ok, nothing too special. the hash got us stoned but i thought it tasted like shit. the bald barmaid lady seriously needed an attitude adjustment. if you can't break a 50 euro note, that's fine, but i do not need a fucking lecture! if you're in the area, stop buy, it's a decent place to toke up-you can get booze too if you want. ![]() a cup reveiw - one judges look at the scene i did enjoy the greenhouse ,there kindness was very nice and grass was good . but i dont like poltics and i dont like pushy people. i went to arjans hydro seminar just to look at some huge grow room that he built. when asked about what kind of fertlizers he thinks is the best he only said try many differnt ones and see what works for you! this is not what i came to here from one of the best growers.but every other words were 'hawaian snow' he was more intrested in pushing his grass than sharing his know how . to high times you are a bunch of bullshit!!!! why dont you come clean and tell everybody how you sold out everybody!!! the feds have been looking for a reason to shut down high times for years . mr hager gave them a reason at last years c cup and was dumb enough to print it. well this was used to charge him in usa. now look at the new issue of high times it now looks like mr hager has hired nancy regan for the new editor. ![]() never fails been to the dam 9 times and this place never fails, good weed, cool staff (last time i never made it away from the counter, three spliffs later i had to leave) nice shakes too best if you get a table.... will be back in may this year for my wedding anniversary. the greenhouse and the greenhouse effect are on our must visit list. ![]() small rooms, friendly staff and right next to all the girls!!! i must admit that being my first time out of the country i was surprised by the size of the room, which were clean.. as time went on though i began to adjust. face it amsterdam isnt the us! i had no problems with feeling safe once i began to adjust to the difference between the us and a-dam. the locks didnt seem too easy to pick but i am sure that it could be done, besides there was an additional lock to get into where the rooms were anyway.. the staff.. well being as this was a solo trip for me i quickly bonded with the bar and coffee shop staff. good product at the coffee shop, good prices on beer at the bar and spittin distance from the first of the red light windows makes this an ideal place to go on a budget.. cheers, martin ![]() great atmosphere terrific place. the location in the red light district offers discount for larger purchases, and the material is top rate. nice atmosphere, well decorated and friendly staff. nice view of street from front window. they even sell copies of their menu a wonderful gift for any toker that has never been there. ![]() bhang lassa? sure i'll have one i tripped into this place in 95 and enjoyed the bhang lassa there, with weed in it, and it was the best tasting milk shake i've ever had. they also had a beautiful purple bud, and had tubes coming out of the walls tipped with flame, no need for lighters. the woman who worked there had an english accent, and admitted to being south african. the last time i went there, in 2000 no one on the woermostraat claimed to know where it was.........very strange........everything is beautiful in holland and i wish i could spend the rest of by life here. ![]() special knocked me on my ass me and a couple of my buddies dropped by in 98 to taste the famed 'house special'. not recommended for lightweights (unfortunately i was at the time). the three of us barely finished a half gram joint when i had to take a nap on the sidewalk due to how potent it was (thanks again to the brit that picked me up). atmosphere was dark but relaxing. highly recommended - it'll be a definite visit for my next time through. ![]() stoned, stoned, stoned. amsterdam is a thouroughly like-able city.i can't state which areas i enjoyed the most as it's all just the bee's knee's. ![]() this place sucks !!!!!!! this place just sucks ! the prices are too high and the staff is so arrogant as if they want you to feel like a lesser being ! i will never set a foot down there again ! they ruined my whole day ! ![]() the resason to go to amsterdam. i've been in amsterdam a lot of time and this is the place for us. great quality and kindly people.relax...relax...relax. ![]() Arrogance at its worst! I stopped in this place a couple of days ago. I am severely visually impaired, but have some sight in one eye. I walked back through a very crowded room to the bar & got up close to see the menu hanging on the wall next to it. I immediately heard someone screaming over the music. I looked around & saw some guy standing on a table ,waving his arms & knocking a painting off the wall. I just thought he was some stoned drunk & went back to checking out the smoke list. This fellow then jumps down next to me & yells in my ear that this is his 'shop'and what am I doing ? I explained that I was visually impaired & had to get up close to see the menu on the wall. He grabbed one off the counter, which I had not seen & thrust it in my face saying' take this & sit down' I tried to look at what he had given me,but he grabbed a light off the bar & started shining it in my face, yelling'now can you see?' I just laid it down & left while he yelled abuse at me.If this is the owner/manager,he a crude buffoon. Some of us need cannabis for severe medical reasons. If you are physically impaired, don't bother with this place.Lots of polite shops all over Adam that will treat you in a respectful manner. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!! ![]() Greenhouse Effect is a Gem Sept 99 Stayed in the Greenhouse Effect (GE) Hotel. I had the spartan Outerspace Room. Cool! I loved staying at this place in the heart of the Red Light District. I am used to living in city core areas and felt comfortable 99% of the time in this area and 110% when staying in the GE. The city is alive just about all night. Is it a top rated Michellin B&B? No, but what they do is top rated. Very good breakfast is available in the GE Bar for hotel guests. It is a very nice way to start one's day. Terrific coffee. Strong and black, just the way I enjoy my ... The staff in the GE are great. Kudos out to Marianne who handled my booking via the internet and email. She even remembered me when I booked the same room for a return visit in May 2000. She wrote: > Hello Greg. > > I don't know if you remember but we meet the the last time you were here. Room # 5 is free for all these dates, >> I am looking forward to a return visit to the Greenhouse Effect. It is neither the Hilton, nor the Hotel International, but when traveling on a budget and spartan is okay, the GE is a friendly place to lay down roots in the heart of Old Amsterdam. See you soon, Greg ![]() favorite place Been to many coffeeshops, but this is my favorite. Krieks (cherry beer - hard to find) or Heinie's to drink, really nice staff, KILLER White Widow (best smoke in town when I was there) and Greenhouse Special. I always find the staff nice, friendly and helpful. Again, my favorite coffeshop. ![]() Intimate friendly coffeshop with above average weed. One of my favorite coffeeshops in Amsterdam. It's small size keeps it from being overwhelming and the staff are very friendly. ![]() Great Mary Crystalline!!! Stopped in as it was ten paces from the Westin Grand where we stayed. Packed house and good vibe. I bought and walked though. Asked advice on crystalline smoke and he suggested the Mary Crystalline at 14NGL per gram I appreciated the fact he lsitened to me and didn't try to upsell me on something I didn't want. ![]() RLD 1 Stop Shopping Green House is a very long and very narrow shop. Their products are very good especially the Special and the Bubble. Their cookies and sp. cakes are also above average. The staff was very cool, would have gave the place a 4 except for the cramped space and serious need for some ventilation. No problems with going back for more next visit. ![]() Our Headquarters during our stay... A great little coffeeshop in the heart of the RLD. Nice staff and great decor. The shop is very narrow and is often crowded. The milkshakes and spacecakes are excellent and the grass and hash are above average. Definitely try the Special: I thought it was a very energetic high. It is definitely worth it to check out this place. |
