    Awful

Stayed at this hotel for a week all inclusive arrived back on the 25th of feb 08. It was very clean, food was disgusting had to eat out every day. Bar staff were really ignorant the reception couldnt do enough for you. No entertainment what so ever we had to entertain ourselves in the smoking room. Walls are paper thin you can hear everything. Would never ever go back there again it was awful and wouldnt recomend it 2 any 1.:. (

Very, clean, comfortable hotel with nice food and friendly staff

I arrived back on sat 7th april after spending a week at the calella palace with my mum. I had read some dreadful reviews about the hotel after booking and so was worried about it but i needn;t have been. The hotel very immaculate throughout. Our room was lovely with 2 double beds, plenty of wardrobe space (and hangers!) a lovely bathroom with bath and power shower, and small balcony. The staff were very courteous and respectful. The restaurant was large and could be noisy but then that is to be expected when the hotel is full. The food was good. By the end of the week it was getting rather repetative, but there was always a good range of meat and fish (and it was nice cuts of meat and fish, lovely salmon steaks etc) 3 different salads plus a vegetarian dish. There was always about 4 sweets to choose from and a nice selection of fruit. The indoor pool is very small, not big enough to swim in. The sauna and jacuzzis are very nice (there are seperate rooms with these for men and women) but they are small (only 3 in the jacuzzi at once) however, we found that if you went around 4pm you could usually get in ok. The roof terrace was lovely, unfortunately when we were there the weather was dreadful so we didn't get much chance to use the roof but it will be great if you have good weather, and nice as its for 18s and over so its quite peaceful. lots of reviews complained that the hotel was full of lager louts. Well when we were there we didn't see any trouble or rowdy behaviour at all, maybe we were lucky. Callela itself it not a particularly pretty town, but we had a nice day out at blanes, and a lovely day in barcelona. The train goes direct from calella so its easy to get about. The only real complain i would make, and i read this in other reviews too, is that the walls are very thin which means we were often disturbed at night. Take ear plugs? all in all i would recommend the hotel, i have stayed in nicer ones, thomson platinum hotels, but it was at least on a par with other 4stars that i have stayed in on the med.
