Ok then.....but how does the average dutch citizen feel about their nation being a magnet for zoned out buitenstaander drug tourists or organized crime E manufacturers? Do you think they are happy/content to have this distinction? Turn a blind eye and have a borreltje over another "Cheers" episode? "Tolerate" (that famed Dutch tolerance ethic again) without really approving of it? How does the non using average nederlander view it all? I'm curious paul.....are you a dutch citizen and local?I believe that most stoners on this board know little of NL in reality or have little understanding as to the true "pulse" of the nation.
      Hi,
A few people on the board have a very negative view of people
who ask questions about hard drugs. I'm sorry but hard drug use
is tolerated in Amsterdam! A few years ago Amsterdam signed an
agreement with Zurich and Frankfurt, known as the Frankfurt convention.
The local prosecuters from these cities agreed that possesion
of any drug for personal use should no longer be prosecuted in
      the criminal courts.
The convention itself doesn't state the maximum amounts
that fall under personal use, but the Amsterdam police have decided
for themselves. At the moment you will not be prosecuted for
5 pills of ecstacy unless you are also guilty of anti-social
behavour. 3 grams of cocaine or speed is also not viewed as intrinsically
criminal. 0.5 grams of herion or crack is around the cut off,
unless you are an addict. It is really at the discretion of the
police officer who finds them on you. If you are being charged
with other offences then they might prosecute you for possesion.

This applies to everyone not just Dutch citizens. Apparantly
your name goes on computer incase you are a repeat offender.
The police have also createda tolerance zone encompassing CS,
RLD, Zeedijk, Dam and ending at the Jordaan where the use of
hard drugs is tolerated as long as it isn't on public display.
If the police catch someone chasing in the street then they have
to stay outside the tolerance zone for 8 hours. A big deal for
an addict. If they don't and are caught they go to court the
next day where a judge gives them the choice of a rehabilitation
centre or a few days in jail. When you are excluded from the
tolerance zone the police give you a leaflet explaining the situation.
There is a circle on a map marking the zone and details of what
will happen if they catch you inside.
The situation for cannabis is different. You will never
be prosecuted unless you are caught with quite a bit. The 30
gram rule is there to keep the French happy and isn't used as
a guide. Most coffee shops will also sell you more than 5 grams
but not in the same bag.
This isn't common knowledge because of the political climate.
The police also appear to be tolerating the sale of hard drugs
inside this zone as well. Brown and white can be purchased from
the group which congregates around the bridge on Geldersekade.
Tourist pay just over double the price that the junkies pay.
The junkies and dealers don't hastle people around this area
because they want the situation to continue.
      Paul.

You are Barack Obama, and you know how to party. And now, as oil hits the Florida beaches and dying wildlife and desperate Louisiana fishermen fill the cable news in searing testimony to what Reuters is calling our "worst environmental disaster," you are doing what you do best...party.
Your bureaucrats have been saying "No we can't" to request after request for assistance along the Gulf Coast, but for you it has been "Yes we can" as you spend taxpayer dollars on entertainment at a greater rate than any U.S. president. Your parties have averaged one every three days and your vacations seem endless as you've satisfied the vow of your former social secretary to bring "the same kind of environment" you had in Chicago to the White House.
You weren't known for your attention to business in the Illinois state senate, but, as one friend said about you and Michelle, "if there was a party or an event, they were there." And as little as you did in the Illinois and the U.S. senates, you've been doing even less in the Gulf, notes radio host Hugh Hewitt.
Even Politico, a part of the Washington Post all-Barack-all-the-time media empire, says you are "failing the test of leadership" with your obvious distaste for getting your hands dirty. And the ubiquitous Dick Morris flatly states the emerging consensus: Our "president doesn't have a clue" when he steps off the dance floor.
You're Barack Obama, and you're not the first black president (Bill Clinton beat you to it), the first incompetent president (Jimmy Carter was there for us in the modern era), or the first professor president (Woodrow Wilson brought his Princeton University-blessed master race theories to the White House). But you are the first party president, with more social affairs than any White House in the nation's history. "Party on" was the way WorldNet Daily described it; another summed it up in a headline, "Obama During Oil Spill -- Golf, Parties, Photo-Ops...and More Golf!"
With George and Martha looking down from their framed perches on the walls of the stately East Room, you've turned the White House into "a showcase of glitzy extravagance." Welcome to Barack Obama's Animal House...er, National Lampoon's White House...no, let's get this straight, Barack Obama's White House.
You have createda world of lavish galas, of black ties and celebrity chefs, of "star-studded" guest lists, celebrated by the admiring Washington Post as a return to "Camelot, the Big Myth, the story of American royalty" You are for the media elites "Camelot's new knight" in "shining armor," and, together with Michelle, you are royalty bringing this dreary republic "a palace of sunshine."
Awesome, beamed The Washington Post in print last week about your celebration of the music of Paul McCartney. "It was all love" for both you and Sir Paul, for your friends on "the A-List." Michelle cried, you had tears in your eyes, and even Jerry Seinfeld offered a sniff or two.
Meanwhile, down on the coast, there were no dazzled and dazzling Washington Post reporters recording the tears of the boat captain who, when asked about the future, replied, "I don't know -- my life, my boat, it is all gone." And in the Gulf, the black balls of tar were swaying in the angry waves as a new hurricane season pushed them toward shore.
Swaying meant something different last week to you, Barack Obama. You were "swaying along to the beat," Fox News told us, while a "star-studded list of celebrities" joined with the Democratic Party elite and a few favored journalists scrambling to get their pictures taken with you. Another week of partying with our "new American royalty."
But popping up in the photo ops with Elvis Costello and Stevie Wonder and Beyonce and Sheryl Crow and Josh Groban, in the sumptuous spreads prepared by a continuous line of celebrity chefs dropping their magic on gold-trimmed fine bone china, in the Green Curry Prawns with Caramelized Salsify and the Oregon Wagyu Beef in Oaxacan Black Mole -- in all of this, there is a haunting hint of John Belushi's "Bluto" Blutarsky urinating on the shrubs outside the East Room.
Haunting because a bureaucratic black hole continues to swallow the requests of angry Gulf state officials as they have struggled to get in front of the oil heading toward their shores. "Mired down in bureaucracy" was the way the Weekly Standard put it. This weekend the tides brought in the "wildlife apocalypse along the Gulf Coast that everyone has feared for weeks."
For weeks. For weeks, state officials and citizens at every level have asked you, hammered at you, screamed at you -- we need help. But you're Barack Obama, and you are American royalty, and, as you told the "A-List" gathered in the White House last Wednesday, you need your celebration every bit as much as the Gulf needs berms to hold back the oil because "what gets us through tough times is music, the arts...the ability to capture that essential kernel of ourselves."
And so you were in the North Carolina mountains on vacation a couple of weeks ago, seeking that "essential kernel" of yourself on the streets of a city known as the San Francisco of the East Coast. And while Louisiana boat captain Dave Marino helplessly watched his nightmare unfold, you enjoyed three days of "delectable food," of relaxing in "massaging waterfall pools" from the sumptuous Biltmore House, the "largest private residence in America."
As the media noted, you found your "essential kernel" even while " step and a romantic glow."
And so back in Washington, Rolling Stone looked on in awe as the music at your party "visibly transported" you to an internal world love. But it did not transport you to the Environmental Protection agency, where a horde of "top" officials discussed your "ongoing efforts" -- but did not respond to the frantic requests of local and state officials for permits to stop the oil.
And it did not transport you to the Bureau of Mineral Management, where your Harvard-educated appointee did "almost nothing" for the beleaguered citizens of the Gulf Coast, finally resigning in the storm of protest. As one commentator observed, you could have provided help "instantly with a phone call." But you didn't.
You are Barack Obama, and "American royalty" is what the Washington Post calls you. And royalty needs parties, pleasure, celebration, and adoring crowds. Your guests left their Hollywood mansions, their colonial revival townhomes in Georgetown, their upper-Manhattan brownstones and penthouses to applaud as you "smiled broadly and swayed" this past week.
And for almost two years it has been party after party, celebration after celebration, thrilled right down to your "kernel" by love in black tie and silk gown.
You are Barack Obama, and you are American royalty.
And as for the people of the Gulf Coast: Let them eat tar balls.
Ok, so Mark Rutte's VVD won. What does this mean for cannabis?

Secondly, what economic condition is the Netherlands in? Shouldn't the financial crisis play in cannabis' favor? What's the argument for regulating (strangling, restricting, etc) the market and the resultant inflow of foreign capital?

I find it hard to believe that anybody would take a drive to rail down capital inflows during recessionary times. What am I missing in this equation (mind you, I have an economics background but know next to nothing about the financial stability of the Dutch system at the moment)?
If you have high speed internet, you can watch Nol's interview. The report is about the Dutch elections, and Nol's interview is at the end of it. The whole thing might be about 5 minutes long, but as mentioned the topic of the coffeeshops is handled last.

Here's the link to Nol's staking website to watch it:

      http://coffeeshopstaking.nl/9juni2010/
Legalization is being voted on in California this November. Polls indicate about 50-50 right now. Colorado is not voting on full legalization at this time. In both states, there are new restrictions being put in.

Estimates are that half the dispensaries or more will be forced to shut down as they cannot comply with the zoning laws.

A crazy thing in Colorado is that the dispensary must grow 70% of the weed they sell and this goes into effect in 2 months! this is impossible for any of them to comply unless they were already growing a ton.

So for alot of them they will not have product.

So I wouldn't say that the wheels have turned yet in the USA. and this is only 2 states, the other states that are introducing medical cannabis, are very restrictive, like crazy New Jersey, basically only allowing terminal patients to have, not grow either.

I don't know enough about Dutch politics but the costs also of policing street dealers and delivery services that will crop up will also be enormous.

This reminds me of the old days when they would stop people at the airport if they looked as a drug consumer and ask them all sorts of crap, keep them there for a couple of hours. it will increase corruption as well. I can't see it happening.
      so wait

does this mean this is the last summer of coffeeshops in amsterdam? Ban will take place soon?
      ironic yes but reality sucks
I find it quite ironic Dutch politics seems potentially headed in the direction of MORE restrictions, if not outright bans on marjuana use, while US politics seems to be moving in the direction of less restictions, if not outright legalization.
In fact, Mark Rutte, the Liberals leader, has only two options:

Completely right, with Freedom Party PVV and Christian Conservatives, that would give them the smallest minority, 76 out of 150.
This is also the less probable one, for the Freedom Party has no Senator in the First Chamber, so no support there.
The Christian Democrats lost half of their reps, who needs a loser, and besides, most senior Christian Democrats do not want to be linked with Wilders, the Freedom Party leader.

The other possible coalition is VVD with PvdA, Green Left and Democrats '66. That would not be so bad for coffeeshops, but I am afraid this will lead to a new election, maybe even this year.

The outcome of these elections is not good.

The Netherlands are in crisis, but not as bad as the rest of Europe. unemployment is at 4.5 %.

700 coffeeshops pay 400 million euro's in tax every year, peanuts for Dutch politics, a lot of monet imho.

Money will not be an issue in the future situation of the coffeeshops, only short sighted politicians will be the issue. That, plus the fact that the coffeeshop owners do not speak up, will probably mean hevy weather ahead, if VVD, PVV and CDA come to power.

      We are in limbo....
Wilders freedom party more than doubled its seats ( to 24) out of 150.
That is coming in a strong third in parliament.
Keep your fingers crossed. It aint over til its over...
It depends on which coalition is formed. If its the right wing groups, PVV, VVD, CDA then its curtains for the coffeeshops and foreigners in Holland. This combination has a high possibility of being formed according to the media. If its left leaning then they should be OK for now.

Jesus as a Reincarnation of Horus

Jesus was referred to as the chief cornerstone (i.e., capstone) - a reference to an Egyptian pyramid. The chief cornerstone of the pyramid is same symbol for Horus, the Egyptian god and savior. Like the Egyptian pharoah, Jesus was called a shepherd who rules the nations with a staff. Horus was a popular Egyptian god who was the son of Osiris and Isis. Osiris and Horus were both solar deities. Osiris was the setting sun, Horus the rising sun. Jesus is the rising Son and the morning star. The pharoah was considered to be an incarnation of Horus (also known as "Amen-Ra," the sun god). In the same way, Jesus is considered to be the incarnation of his heavenly Father. Horus was the lamb of God who took away the sins of the world. Horus had an adversary named "Set". Jesus' adversary was "Satan".

The story of Horus can be found in "The Egyptian Book of the Dead (also known as the "Papyrus of Ani") written over 3,000 years before the birth of Christ.

      Identical Life Experiences
      (1) It is written that both Horus and Jesus existed before their incarnations.
      (2) Horus was born of the virgin Isis on December 25th in a cave/manger.
      (3) Horus' birth was announced by a star in the East and attended by three wise men.
      (4) The infant Horus was carried out of Egypt to escape the wrath of Typhon. The infant Jesus was carried into Egypt to escape the wrath of Herod. Concerning the infant Jesus, the New Testament states the following prophecy: "Out of Egypt have I called my son." (Matt. 2:15)

      (5) He was a child teacher in the temple and was baptized by Anup the Baptizer when he was thirty years old.

      (6) He had twelve disciples and performed miracles such as feeding bread to the multitude and walking on water.

      (7) He raised one man, El-Azar-us, from the dead.
      (8) He transfigured on a mount.
      (9) He also had titles such as the "way, the truth, the light, the Messiah, God's anointed Son, the Son of Man, the good shepherd, the lamb of God, the Word, the Morning Star, the light of the world.

      (10) He was "the Fisher," and was associated with the lamb, lion and fish ("Ichthys").
      (11) Horus's personal epithet was "Iusa," the "ever-becoming son" of "Ptah," the "Father."
      (12) Horus was called "KRST," or "Anointed One.
      (13) He was crucified, buried in a tomb and resurrected.
      (14) The adoration of the Virgin and Child is connected with both the adoration of Isis and the infant Horus and the adoration of Mary and infant Jesus. In the catacombs at Rome are pictures of the baby Horus being held by the virgin mother Isis, the original "Madonna and Child."

      (15) Concerning the writing of the Gnostics, C. W. King, a noted English author, says: "To this period belongs a beautiful sard in my collection, representing Serapis,...whilst before him stands Isis, holding in one hand the sistrum, in the other a wheatsheaf, with the legend: 'Immaculate is our lady Isis,' the very term applied afterwards to that personage who succeeded to her form, her symbols, rites, and ceremonies" (Gnostics and Their Remains, p. 71).

      (16) Osiris, Isis, and Horus are the principal trinity of the Egyptian religions. God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit is the Christian trinity. Dr. Inman affirms the Egyptian roots of the Christian trinity "The Christian trinity is of Egyptian origin, and is as surely a pagan doctrine as the belief in heaven and hell, the existence of a devil, of archangels, angels, spirits and saints, martyrs and virgins, intercessors in heaven, gods and demigods, and other forms of faith which deface the greater part of modern religions" (Ancient Pagan and Modem Christian Symbolism, p. 13).

      (17) Dr. Draper says: "For thirty centuries the Egyptians had been familiar with the conception of a triune God. There was hardly a city of any note without its particular triads. Here it was Amum, Maut, and Khonso; there Osiris, Isis, and Horus" (Intellectual Development, Vol. I, p. 191).

      (18) Dr. Draper stated: "Views of the Trinity, in accordance with Egyptian tradition, were established. Not only was the adoration of Isis under a new name restored, but even her image standing on the crescent moon reappeared. The well-known effigy of that goddess, with the infant Horus in her arms, has descended to our days in the beautiful artistic creations of the Madonna and Child." (Conflict, p. 48).

      (19) Mrs. Besant believes that Christianity has its main roots in Egypt: "It grew out of Egypt; its gospels came from thence ; its ceremonies were learned there; its Virgin is Isis; its Christ, Osiris and Horus."

      (20) There are two stories connected with Horus that is analogous to stories found in the Old Testament. The hiding of the infant Horus in a marsh by his mother undoubtedly parallels the story of the hiding of the infant Moses in a marsh by his mother. When Horus died, Isis implored Ra, the sun, to restore him to life. Ra stopped his ship in mid-heaven and sent down Thoth, the moon, to bring him back to life. The stopping of the sun and moon by Isis recalls the myth of the stopping of the sun and moon by Joshua.

"Osiris, I am your son, come to glorify your soul, and to give you even more power." - Horus, (Book of the Dead, Ch. 173)

"Now is the Son of Man glorified and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him at once." - Jesus, (John 13:31-32)

      When Was The Bible Written?

The Bible was written over a period of 1400 to 1800 years by more than 40 different authors. The Bible is a compilation of 66 separate books, divided into two primary divisions: the Old Testament (containing 39 books) and the New Testament (containing 27 books). It is believed that all of the books of the Bible were written under inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

The first five books of the Old Testament (known as the Pentateuch or Torah) was written by Moses during the forty years that the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness (1450 - 1410 B.C.). The twelve historical books of the Old Testament continue to record the history of the people of Israel under the leadership of Joshua, through the period of the Judges and the reign of the kings of Israel. The books of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther record the history of Israel following its period of captivity under Babylonian rule. The historical books span the history of Israel from 1050 - 465 B.C.

The books of Job, the Psalms, the Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and the Song of Solomon are considered the poetical books of the Old Testament. Scholars have been unable to determine with any specificity when Job was written. Based upon the manners and customs recorded in the text, many believe that the book was written during the time of the Patriarchs of the faith. The individual Psalms, comprising the entire collection, were written from the days of Israel's Exodus to its restoration after the Babylonian captivity. Many of the Psalms were written by King David during his reign over Israel. The entire book was compiled between 1000 - 300 B.C.

King David's son, Solomon is credited with writing Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon, during his reign (971 - 931 B.C.). The seventeen Prophetical books of the major and minor prophets span Israel's history from 700 - 450 B.C. For 400 years after the writing of the Book of Malachi, the Lord was silent and the Old Testament was closed.

It is generally agreed that the Book of Mark was the first Gospel written and that it was written between A.D. 50 and 75. Of the four Gospel's, John's is considered to have been the last one written, around A.D. 85. The Book of Acts, a historical account of the establishment of the early Christian church, is believed to have been written by one of the Apostle Paul's associates, around A.D. 62 (near the end of Paul's imprisonment in Rome).

The Pauline Epistles (the Apostle Paul's letters to the early church) were authored between A.D. 50 - 67. The author of Hebrews is unknown, but the book is commonly thought to have been written around A.D. 70. The epistles of the other Apostles were written between A.D. 48 - 90.

The Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ is believed to have been penned by the Apostle John between A.D. 70 - 95.

do better research - all the books were finished by 95 AD

      Nol,

I usually pick up the tabs alone, but this one will cost me a lot of cash, or my future as a coffeeshop entrepreneur, a profession I am very proud off.

      Nol van Schaik.

      Good attitude mate well done.

Is there anything that a foreign person can do to help in any way?
Nol, Are there many other large scale coffeeshops near the boarders, How busy are they compared to Amsterdam?

Checkpoint was by far the bestseller of coffeeshops, there are none like that. Maastricht nas a few big ones, they come closest to Checkpoint.

The Amsterdam cofeeshops are many,280, Maastricht has only 15, with an ongoing inflow of German, Belgian and French customers.

Amsterdam gets an other type of tourist, they usually fly in, consume their gear at the shops and hotelrooms, and move on back, without carrying any cannabis home.

That makes Maastricht the High Hit these days, 9 border area coffeeshop have been shut doen last year.

Not even the Greenhouse can come close to some of the big ones in Maastricht, tourism in Amstedam is declining, while more foreigners flood our decreasing number of coffeeshops in the South..
so he was fined this because he had 200 kilograms on his premisies instead of the alloted 500 grams?

No, he was closed, forever, for having the big load around, even the real estate is under the Prosecutors confiscation.

He lost his license permanently, because he has a criminal record now.

He paid tax all the way, but that was not enough, he had to be eliminated.
"Make them an offer they cannot refuse"

I'd better lay low, they might send Eliott Hash after me...
thats a bummer to say the least.
"Make them an offer they cannot refuse"
The only rule they broke was having a stash of around 90 kilo's, twice. no other offenses....
No so much, considering he sold half that amount every week, in 5 gram deals with 3 dealers. Where else should he have put it, it is not allowed in any other place as well.

He needed to be taken down, in view of Belgium and Europe, there is no reason in and for this, now we have 100 more people unemployed, and the Treasure will no longer receive 8 millions a year from Checkpoint.

The Dutch Justice department has managed, once again, to create a loss/loss situation.

      Nol Capone,
      Ganja Gang Boss.
But a 10 million Euro fine?

How do they come up with that figure?

Even in the big, bad USA the fine for posession (at least in NY State) is only a few hundred dollars I believe.
Keep fighting the bastards Nol, just keep things smooth until California legalises and the Berlin Wall of cannabis law madness begins to crumble around the world!
Nol, Are there many other large scale coffeeshops near the boarders, How busy are they compared to Amsterdam?

I often think there are ulterior motives when things like this happen out of the blue, has belgium put significant pressure for somthing to be done about this? Could it be a signature gesture to show that they are doing somthing?

I assume more than 3g was being sold and maybe more than the 5g dutch 'allowance' it seems they broke many Laws some minor some significant if found guilty.

If they knew it was happening then they must have been eyeballing place mystery shoppers etc and again assume that the majority of cs's operate within the LAW so they would have little to worry about unless this over rules current tolerance laws ?

I wish you luck in your current legal battles and any future ones (hopefully none) and am looking forward to hitting your indica stre soon.
      Dear Nol Capone,
      Being from Chicago.......I love you.

      ChiChi Dillinger
      @Kiwi:
      Nol,

What are your personal views on this decision and the likely short term effects on the industry if any?

First of all, since last Thursday I am a leader of a criminal organization, and if the Checkpoint crew does not appeal to a higher Court, I will probably stay one forever.
That has a lot of implications.
I am worried, with and about my staff, because one day the hammer may fall for them, to brand them members of Nol Capone’s criminal organization.
The solution for this problem would be to send our staff to an employment agency (uitzendbureau) and then hire them back from the agency, that would keep them in the clear. If I really have to do this, the Dutch Tolerance Policy will be as useless and dead as Harry Anslinger.

Maddy always paid his taxes, millions per year, and the Tax people never reported his nigh sales to the authorities, they just collected and collected…
The fine consists of the money he made on sales to foreigners, after taxes, they could not take his profits over the sales of cannabis to Dutch nationals, after taxes. He has been robbed of his money, with the excuse of sales to Belgians mainly.

The Belgian government allows possession of up to 3 grams of cannabis in their country, but they do not allow the sales of cannabis in their country. Because of this Belgian cannabis policy and the desire of many Belgians to smoke cannabis, the Belgian government actually forces its citizens to go to Dutch coffeeshops to score weed and hash.
So, the Belgian government is guilty of provoking all these border area problems, not the coffeeshops which happen to be located near Belgium. They should be taken to court too, European Court, in their own Brussels.

I can only hope the Checkpoint crew appeals against this decision, and their Lawyer should charge the Dutch Tax Office for fencing, they have accepted criminal money for years, millions per year, without reporting the huge sales of Checkpoint to the proper authorities.
They collected a bundle, and now they took more from Maddy, because it is Belgian money.

The Terneuzen city councilors that have served during the years Checkpoint was in business, should also be taken to court, they made Maddy’s mega coffeeshops a tourist destination, by putting up traffic signs leading to the biggest cannabis coffeeshop in the Universe, to direct the Belgian smokers there.

I will go on the way I planned, I am long preparing a mayor court case against the Dutch Ministry of Justice, one against the Dutch Ministry of Economics will follow on that. Our Lawyer, Mr. Maurice Veldman, a coffeeshop defense specialist, representing most Amsterdam en Haarlem coffeeshops, will launch the attack with me.

This needs to be done before the 9 June elections, so the new people in charge know what they are up to. Wish me luck, I will need some.

Oh, and I am pretty pissed off, I consider Maddy as the great guy he is, a hippie with a great business plan, and I feel personally offended by pronouncing him, our colleagues and myself gang bosses.

I hope some colleagues are ready to share the Lawyer bill, for a change,

I usually pick up the tabs alone, but this one will cost me a lot of cash, or my future as a coffeeshop entrepreneur, a profession I am very proud off.

      Nol van Schaik.
      @ BT; Nol,
I don't understand the following quote from the news article: "Cannabis cultivation and mass retail...are in the hands of criminal organisations in a black-market business worth some two billion euros per year."

This is the export market, they ship cannabis by hundreds of kilo's, making it more dangerous and criminal than dealing in a kilo and a half. like coffeeshops do.

It has very little to do with coffeeshops, but yet, so much.
We buy from the same market as the exporters, but they set the price for the whole market. If an exporter offers 4.5 for a kilo, I can not buy that kilo for less, I have to pay export prices at the backdoor, or run out of weed. After that, the tax man orders us to make a 100 % profit, so the coffeeshops have no say in the price level of cannabis whatsoeever.

Crime pays, more than coffeseshops....they pay tax.
      Nol,
I don't understand the following quote from the news article: "Cannabis cultivation and mass retail...are in the hands of criminal organisations in a black-market business worth some two billion euros per year." While I'm sure organized crime is involved to some extent in the coffeeshop business, the quote makes it sound like walking into a coffeeshop is like walking into a crack house run by the mob. I find it hard to believe that shops such as Grey Area, Greenhouse, Barneys, and Amnesia...which are all some of the most popular tourist shops, are run by organized crime...I've met the owners...it just really doesn't seem likely to me. Is there an underside to these seemingly mom and pop type shops that exists?
Thats quite a large amount over the 500g they are supposed to have on site.

maybe coffeshops will only have 500g in store in short term, this could lead to smaller menu. but could the main weight not be close at hand to resupply as needed but not on cs premises ?

Intresting that they appear to be clamping down on it, thing is with tolerance people always push it further n further until it appears to be the norm and are then shocked when its not tolerated anymore.
so they flaunted many laws dodged tax and were knowingly supplying traffickers. dont thing this is general pactice ? So yeah he got what he deserved if a legitimate cs opperates within the 'tolerance' guidelines then there shouldnt be a problem

I dont see how this is 'open season' by the sounds of it quite a bit of investigation has gone into it. we'll have to wait and see if anymore happen.
Its about a lot more than having more than 500g on site. This is the first time, I think, that they have actually busted the whole organisation and it means its open season on coffeeshops.

Yes it's true. There are many shops that have smoking sections for mixed joints. If the coffeeshop doesn't have a smoking section, then it has to be a pure joint. Most people turn a blind eye though.
Many have glass partitioned areas for tobacco doobage.
Some have even been known to turn a blind eye as long as you hide your baccy/fag pack.
      Just ask
i have heard somewhere that smokin is not allowed in the main part of all coffeeshops now.. is this true? i understand that if u want tobac u have to go to the seperate smoking area... but this seems a bit far fetched, but just want to make sure...

not really true. you can still get mushrooms- just have to look like you know what you are doing and are experienced :

Bit of a misnomer calling it Vapor Swing (aside from poor spelling ;-))

The weed is clearly not being vapourised, but burnt.

That Vapor Swing is meant for oil, or hash.

Im sure it works better than your car's cigarette lighter.

oh it’s bong snob….hi there. why would it work better, it does the same frigging thing? it’s about the product, not the delivery device mr. bong snob. Now back to my vodka bottle for a nice hit of some haze.

If it does the same friggen thing, then show us a video of you preparing your oil in your car, then lighting it with your car lighter. I'd like to see that.

And yes, if you weren't so cheap you would notice that the delivery device does make a difference. Now go dig through your neighbor trash, there may be leftovers in there from last night, or another discarded Vodka bottle, frugal one.

Yea, I was thinking the same, I been doing the same thing for 30 years, just drop a nug in the cigarette lighter in the car and take it in. this has to be rubbish.

Nothing.... if you consider rats and pideons food, and don't mind calling a cardboard box with a tarp over it home.

Face it. There are better ways to do things. It's 2009 not 1979. Believe it or not advancments have been made in pipes. I'll prolly hear some shit for saying this. But it is the truth.

Excuse me but I have to get some clean water in my bong and pack up the slide with some Diesel....... Now which diffuser do I want to use tonite?.........
It’s cool you have a hobby, but if you think all that shit gets you any higher than a corn cob pipe you are delusional.
Ok Rudy…I’ll bite, how does a George Michel video tie I with this thread?
Allright OldFart. It`s trashy and inane; like most of the preceding banter about how best to snort fumes and who is a big dick. I thought "what the hell, why not? George Michael is a big dick."
Plus I kinda like a dance beat with lots of thumpy bass and drums.
Thanks for your interest, I hope you enjoyed the tune.

Don't be fooled by that inviting green light, as this coffee shops 'true' colours will definatley unfold once you step inside...the shebitch who served me was very rude! the menu had nothing under 20 euros and 4 euros for a bottle of water is appalling! They had absinthe for the same price in The Sheeba Coffee shop, just over on Warmoesstraat.

And speaking of The Sheeba, this CS never fails to disappoint me, great staff, lovely ambience. You can ask the staff to put any live music DVD on from their selection.

The Doors on Singel 14 was another great place, the young Dutch boy who worked there was easy to talk to and told us about his own personal experiences while growing up in Amsterdam.
If your a cat lover check out the cat boat (De Poezenboot) in the same area as The Doors, I enjoyed it here very much:) as you can see....

      More info: http://www.farplace.co.uk/Page/304/Amsterdam:+De+Poezenboot/

Visited both the Dampkring CS and both were great with reasonable prices, the one on Haarlemmerstraat was a lot bigger than the one on Handboogstraat (had to wait for a seat), was a bit gutted the 'Cherry Bomb' had sold out though!

Rushland was another great place also, and the many other CS I visited were great too...The GrassHopper was the only let down.

I did write a little info on each strain I bought, how much it cost and what coffee shop I bought the strains from but I lost my note pad! (grumble grumble cherry crumble), so here's a couple of photos I took of my purchases...(and a little info on what my 'brain' will allow me to remember!)

      http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt185/Rudgey/IMG_0371.jpg
Bought from Dampkring (Handboogstraat) this was the first bag to go, really enjoyed Mexican Haze

      http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt185/Rudgey/DSCF0048.jpg
Super Silver Haze never fails to get me hyper

      http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt185/Rudgey/DSCF0049.jpg
Red Leb crumbled like liquid velvet and the smell was amazing, very floral

      http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt185/Rudgey/DSCF0039.jpg
Thank you Islandgurl this was a strain you sugested, It was pleasant smoke, nice and easy on the throat

I was really looking forward to trying this mainly for the fact I Love the song 'Kashmir' by Led Zeppelin :P was disappointed with this one though, it wouldn't burn nicely.

One of my Medical Marijuana experiences involves providing for 3 people with cancer . The longest time period so far is 6 years .
I met the good Dr. at a healing center place. He asked me a couple of questions and discovered I made great hash. I traded him 2 grams for his signature on my paperwork. I sent the paperwork in with 90 bucks and had my official license in about 8 weeks. A copy of the paper work sufficed in the mean time.

I believe anyone could come here as a guest, see "the Dr." and be able to partake the same day with your temp paperwork.

Nice job, MHD... I hope you can see this as giving more credibility to the belief that most of these "prescriptions" are given to stoners with no real medical problems.

      Are you a doctor?
      And your point here?
Some people are better human beings when they are drunk or shot up with heroin also... what is your point?

You say tomatoe, I say tomato...

Dr. Who..."I recommend you smoke as much high grade bud as you can to help you deal with your ingrown toenail, Mr. Jones. As a matter of fact, I think we should categorize your ingrown toenail as "chronic ingrown toenail" so you can come back every year and get my "recommendation."
Did anyone PM you the answer?

I will be in Amsterdam during your visit. I am Denver at the moment.

      Are you a doctor?
Yes, very stoked that CO is blazing the trail here. Breckenridge legalized pot at the city level, and the legislature will be working to tax MJ in the near future, further legitimizing the trade.
MHD, you in town for long? We should meet up for a drink and a smoke!
This is good news about Rhode Island. I had not heard anything about this. I follow the Norml.org podcasts but haven't heard anything (just listening to this for the past month or so).

They talked about some new hash on marijuanaradio.com that is based in Denver so they probably mean MHD's hash. I think they mentioned the healing center but am not sure. They have talked about this place alot.

I can't wait to visit Denver.
I received my California medical marijuana recommendation at the beginning of 2008. I found a doctor online. I had 5 knee surgeries, so I had a folder of documents with me. I was prepared for anything and everything. The doc asked a lot of questions as he sifted through the volumes of documents in my folder. I felt like he was trying to figure out if I was a Federal agent or just a guy with jacked up knees. After the nod was given I paid $90 and received the recommendation.

The doctor was cool. He asked me if my back gets stiff? He said marijuana is a great muscle relaxant. I thanked him for the tip.

I jumped in my car and raced to the nearest dispensary. I could feel my back tightening up already.

      Chili
Back in Colorado for a couple of days when a friend called and said the Dr was in.

I now hang out at the Healing House. An Amsterdam style(for lack of better description) coffeeshop with a great menu and several pounds on site and in stock. There are at least 20 dispensaries within 2 miles of my house and another 100 or so within 20 miles. I can walk to many in a few minutes. One has a 5500 Sq Ft. smoking lounge.

I believe anyone could come here as a guest, see "the Dr." and be able to partake the same day with your temp paperwork. I also believe Colorado is reciprocal with some states and your license will work there. Cali is not one of them unfortunately. But I hear they got shit weed there anyway.

If you want to see whats available, just go to the Denver Craigslist and use Marijuana as a keyword for a search. You will be blown away by whats going on here. The Colorado Gold rush of 2009 and or, The new Wild West it's being called. I have seen Broadsterdam T-shirts(named after Broadway aka the green mile).
Thanks to NYNY for the idea on this thread:

I would be more than happy to share my California medical marijuana experience with everyone here.....

It took about two years of living in San Francisco until I realized that I've got to get my "card". It seemed like more and more of my friends were getting theirs and it was about time I got mine!

Step 1: Went to a "cash" doctor in the Mission district and complained of some true problems I've had for a few years. I had a stressful job and complained about tension headaches, back pain, insomnia and just plain moodiness. All of which were true. Of course, he prescribed some pills....

Step 2: Went to the "pot doctor" with my medical record and prescription for all of these pills the other doctor prescribed. There are several "pot doctor's" in SF and all around California now, they even advertise in local free papers. Paid the $100 and was given a medical marijuana prescription.

Step 3: Took the pot prescription to SF city hall (at the time SF had a card program, now you have to go to SF General Hospital and get a California State card). Waited in line, had my photo taken and was given my first medical marijuana card. No name was on the card, just a photo and a number, and the city did not take a copy of the pot prescription....

Step 4: At first I tried almost every "club" in SF. Until I found my favorites, one of which was within walking distance to my apartment in the Lower Haight....

I experienced over 6 years of pot bliss living with my card. I had to go back to the "pot doc" each year and renew, it was well worth it. As for the selection, my club had what I felt was the best product with the best prices. Great selection of indica, sativa, hash, hash oil, keef, and plenty of edibles.

But not only did they provide me with my medicine, some of which was free when I lost my job, but they also provided a nice safe and fun atmosphere to medicate. April 20th was like a holiday there, they brought food in and had a band play at 4:20pm. I made great friends there and still keep in touch with some of them.....

Looking back it was some of the best times of my life, living "the dream" in SF.... Thanks for reading, let me know if you have any questions, and please share comments.....

I sent the paperwork in with 90 bucks and had my official license in about 8 weeks. A copy of the paper work sufficed in the mean time.

Glad to see you back on the board MHD!
Thanks CJ for a very enlightening story.

Jealous does not begin to describe my feelings when reading your tale.

Now I have a better understanding on how this process works, at least in California.

I was hoping to get a prescription in Rhode Island, since they recently passed a medical marijuana law and my wife and I have a house there.

Unfortunately, Hobie (who lives in RI) says RI law only allows these prescriptions for residents, which is not an option for me right now.

Hopefully NY or CT will pass a similar law one of these days.
NY, Just passing the Medical Marijuana law, while this is great, is not enough. I want what Colorado, California, and Oregan have, dispensaries and coffeeshops. The new pot cafe in Oregan, you should check this out. They provide weed for free, in pipes or vapos. People have been donating weed. It's run as a private club, with no cash consideration for the weed, which is the language of the law.

It almost makes me proud to be an American again, lol. They had international reporters having a look.

You can check the report on this pot cafe on norml.org Monday's podcast, it's worth listening to the interview with the owner. They expect to do a live podcast from there this Saturday night.

from what I have been reading, NY is still not close to passing it. Our hopes in the east coast would be Massechusettes, I expect them to open dispensaries in a year or 2.

But once, if, California passed full legalization, this could change things all over.
So MHD are you still in Amsterdam? or are you back living in Denver, I was always unclear about your living situation, the Dutch Coffeeshop Experience movie gave me the impression you lived in Mokum year round.
I also believe Colorado is reciprocal with some states and your license will work there. Cali is not one of them unfortunately. But I hear they got shit weed there anyway.

Thanks for the morning chuckles MHD.

The NL is looking backwards (in every sense). It looks like, if they are successful in this prosecution, they are caving to pressures from the EU and other outside forces. Perhaps some good will come of it...if the prosecution is not successful, that stupid 500g limit etc. might go away.

I have been to the SC Checkpoint, it was a nice shop, closest to Brugge from where I made a "weed run" lol. I guess I was part of the problem eh?

In Ca. there is no limit on shop supplies and some places place a 3 pound limit on individuals (8 oz. is the general state guideline).

The owner of the Netherlands' biggest cannabis-vending coffee shop goes on trial for drug trafficking Tuesday as the country hardens its stance on soft drug use.

The Hague - The owner of the Netherlands' biggest cannabis-vending coffee shop goes on trial for drug trafficking Tuesday as the country hardens its stance on soft drug use.

The owner of the Checkpoint coffee shop in Terneuzen near the border with Belgium will stand trial in the district court in Middelburg with 16 others, including a manager and suppliers, in what is widely seen as a test case.

The 58-year-old owner, whose name prosecutors refused to divulge, was charged after being caught storing more than the allowed quantity of cannabis on site.

Investigators said they found 120 kilogrammes (265 pounds) of marijuana on the premises in 2007 and another 110 kilos (242 pounds) last year.

Before it was closed in May 2008, Checkpoint counted between 2,000 and 3,000 clients a day, mainly Belgian and French.

The Netherlands' 700-odd licensed coffee shops are allowed to keep no more than 500 grammes (1.1 pounds) of cannabis on their premises, while clients are limited to five grammes (.18 ounces) per purchase. The limits are often flouted.

"This is the biggest-ever case of its sort," Middelburg prosecution spokeswoman Elke Kool told AFP.

"We are dealing with a real criminal organisation here."

The Netherlands decriminalised the consumption and possession of under five grammes of cannabis in 1976.

Cannabis cultivation and mass retail remains in the hands of criminal organisations in a black-market business worth some two billion euros (three billion dollars) per year.

The Netherlands has recently been taking an increasingly tough stance on recreational drug use, citing what critics see as a nuisance createdby millions of drug tourists who cross the border every year.

"We have had a lot less trouble since the closure of Checkpoint, about 80 percent of whose clients were foreigners," Terneuzen city council spokesman Daniel Rouw told AFP.

The town of 55,000 inhabitants now has only one coffee shop, which attracts some 600 clients daily -- "a more reasonable number", he said.

The national Dutch government announced plans in September to limit drug tourism by reserving hundreds of cannabis-vending coffee shops for locals.

A cabinet statement at the time said, "the sale of hashish and cannabis in coffee shops must be limited and aimed solely at the local user".

A draft new drugs policy is to be presented to parliament by year-end.

As it is being drafted, many cities and towns have started taking their own curtailment measures.

Amsterdam has said it will halve its number of coffee shops, citing criminality, while other cities are to close those within a certain distance around schools.

In the southern Limburg province, 30 coffee shops announced recently they would become private members' clubs from next year and reduce the daily limit from five to three grammes per person.

Roosendaal and Bergen-op-Zoom, two other southern border councils, last month withdrew the cannabis-selling licences of their eight coffee shops in a bid to rid the cities of some 25,000 drug tourists per week.
A three pound limit!?! That might satisfy by daily dose... lol! I'm just curious Amsterfan, how much of a discount is there between a gram (or the minimum) and three pounds? And how much for three pounds of premium bud, including tax?

You guys are making me salivate, here on the stupid east coast!

No shops sell that quantity...that is the limit you may have on hand for "personal use" in some communities. I think and OZ is the general sales limit and there is a discount but I don't really know prices as I never buy weed.

Cool - glad they'll be open (I hope). We'll be sitting there in 4 days if they are, so I'll keep y'all posted as to what's going on.

I read on ACD forums that Basjoe reopened 1 Nov (yesterday)
I've been hearing things also, Alicia. I'll find out for certain in a few days, and let you know something if nobody here knows for sure, gf.

It sure was, it ended up being that Terminator Hash and when I sat back down at the table, Bongdude grabbed it and said "Lemme try some a that!" He loved it and the rest is history - I think he bought 2 grams of the stuff and it is very expensive. 50 euro a gram as I recall, but awesome. It burned down with the joint until the end, with just the small bit he put on. Got all of us at the table big time buzzin'. Good ol' James.

Thank you, Pothead. I'll ask James if he still has that Hubbly Bubbly, and tell him you're one of the best around. ;-)

FYI - hookah tobacco is basically tobacco cured with some combo of fruits, molasses and oils - very sticky to the touch.

Hookie tobacco taste bears zero resemblance to puffing regular tobaccy. Filtered through water (or whatever you care to pour into the hookah), the resulting smoke has a very sweet, clean taste and evaporates in moments. Hookah tobaccy is tarless, though there's plenty of nicotine.

I dig the hell outta using the hookah - esp. at the Hbar near Central Station (forget the name) that you pass on the way Barneys. They've got a window table and I've sat there chillin' for hours at a time. (one bowl lasts for a half hour or so).

Whoever is in town then should definatly try and make it to the show. These guys play good music. I used to live in San Diego and they would play this one bar at the end of the street I lived on every other Tuesday or Thursday. That was 10 years ago. Glad they made it to the big leagues.

Police seal off neighbourhood in drugs hunt

      Tuesday 20 October 2009

Police sealed off an area of some 140 houses in the Limburg town of Hoensbroek near Heerlen on Tuesday in a major hunt for marijuana plantations.

By mid-afternoon, 13 people had been arrested and 13 plantations had been found, Nos tv reported. The action involved over 200 police officers, including 75 riot police. Dogs and a helicopter were also involved in the search.

Police moved in at 7.45am, placing the Kastelenbuurt neighbourhood under emergency rule and only allowing people to leave their homes if they had to go to work or take children to school.

At least 35 homes were searched.

News agency Novum said the search had been prompted by a 'bizarre' surge in electricity usage in the neighbourhood since the summer - usually connected to wide-scale indoor marijuana growing.

The national crime hotline had also received several tip-offs about illegal activity in the area, Novum said.

Amsterfan, not sure if were being sarcastic or serious, but it is backwards. Case in point, these growers are probably in some sort of organized crime ring (based on the amp production facilities).

Drugs raid nets 19 nurseries, 18 arrests

      Wednesday 21 October 2009

Police discovered 19 marijuana plantations, a quantity of hard drugs, an illegal cafe and equipment to make amphetamines after sealing off an area of 140 houses in the Limburg town of Hoensbroek on Tuesday.

In total, 18 people were arrested but more arrests are likely to follow.

Some 250 police officers were involved in the search, which took place between 7.30 and 15.30. No-one was allowed to enter the area and locals could only leave to go to school or work while the search was carried out.

The decision to carry out the massive check followed reports from energy firm Essent about a sudden surge in energy use - usually associated with indoor marijuana growing.

It is unclear how many marijuana plants were seized, but according to Nos tv, electricity was being illegally tapped in seven of the 19 plantations.

      © DutchNews.nl
Wow that sucks. Is it an attempt to take down the gangs or gradually prohibit the marijuana?
Perhaps they should come up with some way to seperate the production of marijuana from the production of hard drugs?
It appears that they did, in this case! lol

The reason they were busted tho was they were stealing electricity. Doesn't matter much how much you use, as long as you're paying for it. As soon as you begin stealing it there can only be ONE reason for doing it. Pretty much a no brainer, for most.
there have been alot of busts over the last couple of months and alot of good mothers have been lost

The reason they were busted tho was they were stealing electricity. Doesn't matter much how much you use, as long as you're paying for it. As soon as you begin stealing it there can only be ONE reason for doing it. Pretty much a no brainer, for most.

They steal the electricity not because they are cheap but to keep from getting caught by the size of their electric bill. It does matter how much you use.

Birdman, the wife and I BOTH had season tickets to the NE Revolution, 3 rows from the grass dead center for less than this ONE Ajax game! Yikes! It's kinda like comparing Icolator with Maroc isn't it (and I'm on the side of the Maroc on this one!)?

Hey, let me know if you're ever in town (Boston) for a game - we could always meet up for a spliff (if you don't mind my at-home mids, nothing like what I indulge in A'dam).
I can get Bruins/Islanders tickets (I'm a Bruins fan but live in NYC) for 60 Euros five rows from the ice!
Well, hockey INSTEAD of - no comparison! However, hockey IN ADDITION TO is perfectly acceptable! Being a Boston area native, I grew up lucky enough to watch Bobby Orr play (my Dad always took me to games) and got to catch Ed Giacoman (sp?) on tv WITHOUT a mask (and, for those who don't know - he was the goalie). And that brief moment when Brad Park and Bobby Orr were both playing defense for Boston? Oh MAN!

Only now am I getting back into hockey - the bullshit fighting of the early 1980's was a complete turn-off...
I think I may go see a hockey game instead (in America).
Hey, I feel independently wealthy (lol)!

But seriously, we travel to A'dam about twice a year and rarely do we indulge in such extravagent activities AND since it WILL be my birthday weekend and it just so happens to be THAT game...why not? Jeez, one year we took a train to Osnabruck, Germany just for the night for the Klaang Festival (electronic music, Klaus Schulze in fact) and kept our hotel room in town so we wouldn't have to take all of our stuff! Granted, that whole side trip STILL cost less than the Ajax tickets :D

Alicia, thanks for the advice - we'll head over for a post game pint or two at the home supporters area before heading back to town.

      Too rich for my blood...too!

      Tutti
but I prefer to don the Red & White of Ajax - I think they're concerned we'll wander off to smoke somewhere and I'll get my ass kicked!

Thanks, I'll post some pics and review when it's over!

I love the "beautiful game" but 95 pounds is waaaay too much.
Pics would be great. If you want to wander, wander to the pub down on street level of the ArenA . It will be packed after the match, win, lose or draw. Or go to the supporters home which is the large graffiti covered building on the grounds. Have a drink with the supporters!
Hey Birdman - didn't see the 95 euro tickets (did see 95 pound tickets tho'), but opted for the pricier "good seats" (aka "safer seats"). Yeah, it's expensive for sure but you only live once...besides, we're going as much for the atmosphere of Dutch hooliganism as we are for the game. But damn, WHAT a game!

      -HD
I found some for 95 Euro. That seems a bit much to watch people kick a ball around, no?
Ahh, the "Arena Card" makes sense - we had to buy tokens next door at the Heineken Music Hall to get drinks so I imagine it would be the same at Ajax arena. My friends REALLY want me to wear a Dutch National shirt but I prefer to don the Red & White of Ajax - I think they're concerned we'll wander off to smoke somewhere and I'll get my ass kicked!

Thanks, I'll post some pics and review when it's over!

      Thanks HasjDreamer,

That is a pretty pound to pay!

Not surprised at all at the result of that match btw.

I've been to a lot of matches in various European cities and you will absolutely see some "real" football at Ajax. Great stadium.

When waiting in line to get a drink or snack, you'll want to make sure that you have an Arena Card or whatever it is called beforehand. They didn't take cash last time I was there. You just have to buy an Arena Card in the stadium which is sold in various Euro values. I think it is called an Arena Card. Maybe someone on here can verify that.

Have a great time at the match and watch yourselves!

      -Alicia
Hey Alicia - feel free to hijack the topic anytime!

We picked up the tickets through TICKAZILLA and, as you may expect, they cost us a pretty penny (or make that a pound - 316 pounds to be exact!). I liked their options - three seating sections vs. two on the other sites and their prices were as good if not cheaper.

Oh yeah, Ajax huMILiated the N.E. Revolution - the wife and I were thinking "so, THIS is how you play football!". Can't wait to see an authentic match...

      Keep us updated!

      Hi Hasjdreamer,

Sort of a thread hijack or maybe a thread bump?

Where' did you get the tickets? I'm planning on seeing Ajax vs Heerenveen on the 22nd. Was thinking about buying from tickets unlimited but the price for a ticket on the long sides is a bit high, as expected.

What was the result of the match that you saw?

      Thanks
Alright, the wife and I have Ajax tickets for the 'Klassiekers' match on Sunday, November 1st. I've seen the footage, read the stories but has anybody gone to a game? It's our first European football match (we did manage to see Ajax play the New England Revolution in a friendly match back home) and first time to Ajax stadium...

      Any advice?

      -HD
Ajax drew Juventus in the next Europa round...should be some great games.
I am a Liverpool fan (no jokes about recent performances) i am a wounded lion. And I attend at least 10 games a year at Anfield and the atmosphere is electric there but I have a small desire to experience a dutch game especially with a major rival abnd who else to see than Ajax.

But i am guessing you are right they have a big following and the same rules apply to matches at anfield it is near on impossible to get tickets on match day and even booking in advance is unachievable. Unles syou want to pay silly money.

But advice once again Alicia appreciated
Tickets can be bought through some online ticket sellers but it'll cost you heaps! If you search online you'll find some pricey deals.

My experience, turn up at the stadium match day and hope for the best. Of course this won't work on days when tix are only sold to those with a clubcard or for any derby/serious rivalries.

Being there is well worth any efforts though in my opinion.
I am keen on see Ajax too. But last time out once I had sat down in a coffee shop it didnt cross my mind for the entire trip until I was leaving and I saw someone wearing an Ajax shirt. But if it is possible to book some tickets or something in advance let me know
I am really looking forward to hearing (in person) your experiences about this game. Just be careful man, there will be violence.
Hey Marco, it's good to meet up with you on the Channels Forum too!

Looking forward to getting together in, what, three weeks or so? I'll try and post that Sunday evening from the safety of Popeye's - nursing our football experience over a phatty of Alladin's Chocolate...

We'll try and stay (relatively) sober to keep our wits about us and will be sure to stay safe!

      Thanks,

I recently experienced the clash of St Pauli vs Rostock 2nd division, Smaller scale than what HJ is going to see.
But I felt alright most of the time. It was escalating all day but the police seemed to have it locked down. But alas that was not in fact true. Rostock were outnumbered of course. Riot, melée...

      Wooo-hooo!
Hey, a quick post...the match on Sunday WAS AMAZING! The game, the experience, the arena and the seats...PERFECT!

If there WAS dissapointment it had to be the complete lack of ANY hooliganism. I mean, not a fight to be seen!

However, the singing (the Arena was shaking from voices only!), the flares, the cannons, and the game: 5-1 Ajax, 2 red cards (both on Feyenoord), a yellow on Ajax, a PENALTY kick (and goal), and a bit of a scuffle between players. Oh, the seats?

FRONT ROW, about 3/4 to the side! ALL the way down to the replacement seats in front of the original 1st rows. IN-CREDIBLE!!!!

The trip so far AMAZING...full report on the Cannibis Forum...

      Wow HJ, Nice result!

I'm glad that you had such a good time. I hope that the match that we go to will be as good or better ;-) And that we'll find less expensive tickets. Otherwise, I'll be at some pub.

Anyone know of a good pub or coffeeshop where we can hang out with Ajax supporters and watch the AJAX Feyenoord match?
I know of neither Alicia, though I'm sure there are several around town. The one place I do know is CoCo's a fine restaurant on the Thorbecksplien, which is connected to Rembrandtspien. They themselves declare Warm beer and lousy food. They have several TVs tuned to different sporting events. Just up the square from the Bushdoctor coffee shop. Incidentally, CoCo's allows smoking whatever you've got.

Thanks Alpha. Good to know. Hope to see ya in town.
I went to the match with Matty223 and another friend we had a blast...5:1 Ajax! Ajax made 4 or 5 goals in the first half. It was fantastic. I expected Ajax would beat Herenveen and they did!

We bought tickets at the stadium box office an hour or so before the start of the match. Low "priority" match so we didn't have trouble getting tickets.

How much were they? The ticket service for Ajax is a joke.
